There are very few illnesses/diseases that can cross the species lines, and I don't think pink eye is one of them.

Hopefully, someone who is sure will come along, but I don't think you need to be concerned. Make sure to follow your own doctors instructions for your benefit.

I know that my vet said dogs and cats can catch it from humans, don't know about gliders though. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is spread through direct contact so if you or another family member has it I would suggest washing your hands with soap and warm water and changing your clothes before contact with any animals and trying to limit contact as much as possible.

Thanks for the post. I would not take any chances until talking directly to a vet who knows for sure but if there is a chance it could be passed by direct contact, then the precautions mentioned should be taken for sure.

Pink Eye can cross the human/animal barrier in many species. I have personally seen it spread through a whole herd of cattle. It is very contagious. Talk to your vet.

If you take precautions to wash hands, get some hand sanitizer, minimize your contact with them, keep them away from your face and don't rub your eyes while handling them and you should be safe.

I hope you and your family get over this fast. Good Luck.

I am so glad to see others who actually have the correct answer post.

Just goes to show there is something to learn every single day.

Thank you so much for posting.

Gliders can get pink eye. Like humans, some gliders are more prone to it than others. My friend had a glider, Bean, who got pink eye several times. Most of the time, a topical ointment cleared it up, but a few times, his tear ducts got infected and he had to be put on oral antibiotics frown
