Well, we know that the albino T- and creamino T+ are two different genes. We were surprised when Sheila's albino het pair produced their first creamino. As far as I know, none of Susan's creamino/het pairs have ever produced an albino. We paired one of our creamino males up with 50% possible albino hets. Yesterday, we discovered a creamino hiney hanging oop. So our 50% possible albino het female has proven to be a 100% creamino het. Her albino lineage stems to Moe and Disko, so obviously, Moe and/or Disko must also carry the creamino T+ gene. So anyone with albino hets from this line may also have gliders that are creamino hets. Interesting...

How many albino lines are there and which ones produce creminos?

What if it turns out that you only need one glider with the cremino gene(and the other with the albino gene) to produce a cremino?

There is only 1 albino line and 1 cremino line. The albino line produced creminos, but the cremino line doesn't seem to produce albinos...

So, what happens if all the albinos are producing creminos? frown Wouldn't that be really bad?

Wouldn't the albinos just slowly dwindle down? :\

No, you deffinately need both parents to have the creamino gene to produce creaminos, same as leucistic.

There are actually 3 creamino lines now, if you count the albino line that is producing creaminos. Susan has 2 unrelated lines.

There are already more than triple the amount of creaminos in existence compared to the albinos.

WOW!! You are so lucky to be blessed with such beautiful babies Stacie. I hope to one day have a creamino just because they are so pretty but I know I'll never be able to afford now. Maybe one day I can afford a neutered male or something.

Shouldn't albinos cost MORE then creminos then? That's weird. :\

If they're such prolific breeders then maybe us "poor" folk can afford them soon. Heehee. wink I'd DIE to have Sheila's Brulee. *drool*

The price on creaminos is already coming down. I paid $7500 for my girl two years ago. I am selling this girl for $5500. Still expensive I know, but less expensive than they were a while ago.

I believe the albinos will stay less expensive than creaminos because they are less desired. A lot of people are freaked out by the albinos red eyes and if you just wanted a white glider, you might as well buy a leu, they are cheaper. The creaminos, however are adored even by people who do not like albinos. Their ruby eyes seem to be less intimidating and their cream body color and tan stripe are just stunning!

Hey Stacie, you said there are 3 different cremino lines... Do you know where they came from/who produced them?

Susan had the original line. A while ago, she pulled a couple more gliders out of her classic grays and put them together. She said that they had a certain look to them that she noticed in the original gliders she paired together but won't let out what is "different" about them, as she considers it a trade secret. Well, that pair also produced creaminos and she said that they are completely unrelated to her original line. So that is two lines. The third is the albino line which is producing creaminos. That T+ in this albino line seems to stem back to Moe and/or Disko.

Hum... interesting. I don't quite know what to make of that 'second' line of Susan's since her grays have no history... But from what I've seen, Susan is doing a very good job breeding out her creminos.

I'm not sure, Leyna. I was told Susan's original creaminos came from two gliders who could not be sold due to broken tails. Since they could not be sold, they were put together as a breeding pair and surprised her with not one, but two creamino babies.

Recently, Susan made a post about the creaminos not coming about by mistake. She posted that the original pair was put together because of something "different" about them. She went through her grays again looking for the same qualities and pulled out two more gliders that looked simular to the original pair. After pairing them together, they produced a cino and she had a new line of creaminos.

She won't tell us what exactly she found "different" about the gliders, as it is her trade secret. I have no idea what it could be, as I have many 100% cino hets and they all look pretty normal to me. She did say that some of her hets have had burgany eyes, so maybe that is it. All of my hets have black eyes.

The thing that gets me is that Susan doesn't keep track of her grays, so what's to say that those grays aren't actually related to the original cremino hets. Eh, whatever, it really doesn't make a difference.

Idk. Just going by what she posted. I don't have any gliders from her "newest" line. I did wonder the same thing about lineage, though.

Albino is lacking the enzyme that produces color... thus the switch is off (T-) When the switch for color is turned on... the result is the "Caramel Albino" T+ which has color simular to the Creamino. Eye color is a deep garnet so almost looks black.

A Creamino on the other hand... has 2 cream genes that wash out all color until the animal is a pale cream with light beige points. Also... has Burgandy eyes.

I do not beleive the Creamino is the Albino T+. Rather it is a young variation of it's own.

Ok
This is just a theory of Judie's but when Judie posted this, she didn't know that creminos are being produced from that t+ cremino line and the albino line.
I believe that the t+ line can vary in color as to how much melanin. It is like some Leu's have gray ears and some don't. Also some Leu's have red rings or eyeliner around their eyes. I still believe that the Albino line that produces the Cremino is more creamier and shows more color, but it might be a strain of color in the line that is more dominate. It is most likely when bred to a pure cremino line that it will become whiter and less caramel.

Just an interesting tid bit to add......Susan told me before I got Bindi & RooRoo from her that the creme-inos are alot calmer than most other sugar gliders (she didn't know why, that they just are) and it is so true! Bindi has been SO CALM from the 1st day when I got her!! She is very courious and sweet!
Are your creme-inos the same way Stacie?
