Since I recently switched and the suggies are eating it all every night..I have noticed a few little things on the actual mix, and I just want to make sure this is "normal".
1. Does your hpw melt like, reeeaallly fast once you get it in the bowl? Mine is like instant liquid!! They still go for it, but I am wondering if maybe I measured the water wrong when making it or something????
2. When the mix was frozen, ready to scoop and serve, I noticed the deeper I dug into the mix (I keep it in a large yogurt container, covered in plastic wrap with the lid on), it almost looked like it separated as it was freezing. The top layer was more firm and a lot more of a brighter yellowish color than the mix underneath it. So, I mixed it up with a spoon and stuck it back in the freezer. But, I noticed the bml mixture when I made it would be a little more "firm" than the hpw. Is this also normal?
Like I said, the suggies love the stuff and eat it with gusto, but I was just wondering if this was what the end product was supposed to look like or not.

Yep, sounds normal to me. It will melt super fast that is for sure. The whole seperation thing, I have heard others talk about it before, and I personally have never had that happen, But I have had it where the top part was frozen and the bottom portion wasnt. That will make the top part a bit darker but once it is melted, it is the same color as the non frozen portion. Ok, I dont feel as though that made sense...I better go get some coffee...

I have had the separation thing happen too. I tried mixing it at a higher rate of speed and it was better but not equal so what I now do is make it place it in the freezer for an hour or so just when it is starting to freeze stir it once real good and it stays together better. I use a container that is about 1 1/2 inches deep so I can scoop all thy to the bottom in case it does separate.

Yeah sounds pretty normal to me. The top layer of mine is always a lot lighter than the bottom, but that certainly hasn't stopped them from eating it It also does melt REALLY fast so you probably did things right. I keep mine in ice cube trays so it's all frozen, but by the time I get all their food ready it's almost completely melted.

Yes, mine melts super fast, and sometimes I pop it in the microwave because my boys are picky and won't eat it right out of the freezer. I've never seen the seperation, but then again this is only my first batch of hpw so I'm sure it could happen.... HTH

Thanks everyone...I wonder if I should try the ice cube tray thing next time for the separation deal. Our freezer has so much stuff in it tho lol.

ewww the icecube trays stunk!!! I hated using them with BML. Wow didn't realize you were in Conroe I am in Rosenberg. There is someone in Conroe on craigslist looking for a home for a glider. Wow small world. My Hpw does the same thing though!!

I was in the same boat...no room for the trays, so I use the Gladware containers (eventually throwaway). They work well and they're cheap. I just spoon out what I need each night. The only separation I get is the foam on top.

Yes I was going to ask these same questions! I freeze mine in ice cube trays so if there is separation they are still getting 'all' of their HPW since they get the whole cube.
Glad to know all of that is normal!

I pour mine into a plastic ice cream half gallon container. I have foam at the top but I just add a bit more of the mix that night. I only have the foam one night since I feed so many gliders. I don't have separation but I blend on high for 6 min instead of 4. I recently started putting their fruit and veggies in the bottom of their bowl and topping with the HPW, hoping they would eat their fruit and veggies better. It was like night and day! Before, the disposal ate more fruit and veggies than the gliders. Now, all the disposal gets is dried crumbs! A bonus is, I only have half as many dishes to wash now!

Mine also love the HPW fresh the night I make it. That's when it really is soaked up by the fruits and veggies, and the gliders have to "clean their plates"!
I use Ice cube trays, because I'm horrible at measuring. Works great for me. I trust that my gliders are getting the right amount, and it is so easy to serve up.
