I just took these. There are 7 in total. Number 7 you can see the top of the damage he did to himself, as the bandage is opened a little. It is pretty graphic, but shows what a glider can do to themselves in a few seconds. He is adjusting to being in it and isn't messing with it as much anymore. He will get a new one put on him on Saturday (they have to anesthetize him to do it) and it will be changed that way every three days (can we say 'expensive bandaid'.) But as long as it works, I don't care! I tried to get pics from different angles so you could see. This should be a strong reminder to keep those ecollars on.....I wish I had put it back on.

Thank you. I am so proud of him, he has been through so much, but he is my little sweetie! He only fights now at med time (can't blame him) but otherwise is adjusting to everything (again). I actually think he is doing better in this then the ecollar as he can move much better in this. Just hope it works!

He is such a doll! Look at the spirit in his eyes! He's going to be just fine. Expensive and time consuming but worth every penny and second! Thanks for sharing pics with us. Have you been able to find anyone to help you so you can get some sleep?

Thank you, Connie (from your lips to God's ear!) I actually got rest last night because after he ran in his wheel, he did sleep and didn't mess with his bandage. I think he is getting used to it, just like the collar. I don't 'think' he can get this off (although he did chew some of the top part). We will see what the vet finds on Saturday, hoping it is good! He is on antibiotics and will remain on them for several weeks, I believe. He is also getting pain meds still, for at least a few more days (we will reeavaluate that on Saturday. I hate that he needs to be sedated to have the bandage changed, but no other way to do it. Heck, with three they couldn't cut his nails, this boy is a MAJOR WIGGLER! lol

Thank you, Hollis. I'm trying my best. I think the wheel has been HUGE in helping him. I imagine it has to be hard to have nothing to do and try not to focus on your not feeling well, so his being able to do something I think will help him get through this. Sure praying, anyway!

Oh the attitude in that last picture. He sure hasn't given up. I am so glad that the shirt is working.

Give Timmy a kiss for me. He is a handsome boy.

Thank you. Yes, he is a fighter, always has been (thank God!) He didn't have a great start early in his life and I think it helped him to be strong. At my vets, they said he is becoming their mascot! lol

I hope all your other suggies are doing well also!

Is there something that can be put on the top of his bandage shirt to keep him from chewing on it? Something that tastes nasty but isn't harmful if it is swallowed or touches his wound? I love his fighting spirit. It shows in his stance, the way he holds his head and especially, in his eyes! He's going to make it just fine and his scar will be his medal of bravery.

I can think of 2 things that could help (in answer to your question, Connie):

#1 Collasate. It's a post-surgical spray or ointment that tastes REALLY NASTY tounge (tried it, this is HUMAN testimony)and could be wiped on top of his bandages. Only available thru vet's offices or vet supply warehouses, it's very effective stuff.

#2 Using a VERY SHORT shotglass or satellite e-collar (I'm saying cut back to maybe 1" or extending JUST beyond his chin). But....I would hesitate to use this b/c Timmy has already spent a lot of time in an e-collar & his neck is irritated.

Mary, I'm saying prayers for you! hug2 I know your last couple nerves have to be rubbed raw by now... Tell Timmy that we're wishing both of you the best & he needs to hurry up & get better mlove

They tried putting some tape. We are thinking of trying something with maybe some fish air tubing as a sort of 'cap' for the edge, but trying to figure out how to attach it.

Thank you. I will talk to her about the Collasate, but he actually has left it alone now for the most part. We will see how he does with the new one on. What do you think of the bandage, do you think it is ok? Do you think he will heal with it on? I sure hope so! Thanks again!!

Timmy looks so vibrant and full of spirit you can tell he is a little scrapper! I am glad he is leaving his dressings alone. Timmy is in my thoughts and prayers as always. Hopefully you are getting a little more sleep.

Thank you, Melissa. He really is a sweetie, but he is a fighter. (Ask the vet, they couldn't even cut his nails until he was under...lol) As long as his boo boo heals, we can get through this. I told her maybe we can get some 'fashion colors' for him, since he is going to be wearing this for quite a while....lol

Timmy you are a trooper and you will get though this. I am glad your Mommy can give you your wheel back. You be a good fella and everything will be just fine.

Mary you should bring your camera to the vets Saturday and have them take pictures of it while he is under and having the bandage changed.

Not sure but would Granulex help heal it? You vet will know what it is. It helps aid in the healing of tissue when a would has to self granulate and slowly heal on its own.
Just thinking of what might help heal it faster.

Have a Good Day
Brenda &
Mr. Magoo

Friendly Reminder please have an e-collar ready before you need it......

I will ask her. I know Suz gave me the name of some stuff and I spoke to her about it. She said perhaps later down the line to keep from too much scar tissue building (as there is a very reasonable concern he will even go after scar tissue) we may use that stuff. But I will ask her about that. Thanks Brenda. I'm just thankful he is so 'user friendly', as he has put up with going through all this like a champ. (Not sure some of my others would have been so abliging! lol)

i think one of us should bring you some starbucks or something tasty, to help you relax just a little. i dont know it this has been mentioned or not but would putting something icky tasting on his bandage an option to help keep him from going after it even in the future? Thank god he is doing well now though.

Yes, suggiemom said the same thing. I honestly don't want to upset him any more, and it seems he is messing with it very little or if at all, so hopefully next one he will leave alone. I have to get a copy of the pic taken when they first put it on........what a site! He was mad BIG TIME and you could see it in his face! I just was checking on him and he was sound asleep, so that is good. Thanks!

(And I don't think 'relax and Starbucks' can be used in the same sentence.....lol)

Thanks! My vet said he reminded her of a cartoon character and that it looked like he should have a jet pack on his back so he could fly. When you see the pic, you will see why she said that. Each day we get through, I breath a little easier (but after what happened, I won't let my guard down for a second!)

Tonight he seems a little subdued. I hope he is just still a little sleepy. He did eat, but not his usual amount. He keeps trying to lick the bandage tonight. I may call in the morning and see if I can get him in tomorrow for a bandage change, to make sure he looks ok underneath. I am so anxious about infection, even though he is on Baytril.

Mary,
I just don't really know what to say. My heart goes out to the both of you. I have been battling an issue with my 2 gliders for 9 months now and it is very draining emotionally to feel so helpless. All we can do is the best we can do (and another 110% like you do agree )
I am sure that even if Timmy crabs or would give you a mad look he knows deep down inside how much you love him.

I hope all goes well.

For the sake of your own peace of mind, I'd be calling in the morning too.

It's very possible that he's hitting the "itchy" stage of the healing process. Wouldn't that just be GREAT? jump dance I hear what you're saying about being nervous over infection.

I'm still scratching my head for an idea to help with his bandage....when I come up with one, I'll be sure to pass it on.

I wish I has answers for you. I'm keeping good thoughts in my heart for both of you! If I was close by, I'd sure be helping you.
