Can you put some kind of mesh screen over it so that he can't get to it and it'll still get air to the wound? I'm thinking about the mesh that's used in bonding pouches.

Well, he perked up later in the evening (although not like the night before) but this morning he is full of energy again, was running like crazy on his wheel and after some morning mealies, his meds, water and some snuggle time, he is now asleep. So I think he had just overtired himself running in his excitement the night before. His boo boo (what I can see) looks good, so we are keeping the appt. for tomorrow (the vet didn't want to do it too soon, as he has to be sedated and is trying to space it out as much as she can for that reason). Anyway, thank you for the good thoughts. I was very scared last night. This is quite the emotional rollar coaster!

Thank you. It was such a relief to hear him running on it this morning! Consider that love given!

lol.....I don't know if a glider could be more spoiled than he is right now. I cut his mighty mealies into bite size morsels and this morning, I held the plate with the mealies by his wheel, so he could run, take a bite and run some more...lol Thanks! I'll take that sand! lol

Mary, if you are like me (and from the sounds of it you are) then I'm thinking you don't mind the spoiling! LOL! Glad to see Timmy is doing better. I will keep thinking about you both!

Thanks Sam! (And you are definitely right! lol)
Todays update:
Timmy had his bandage changed and it looks GREAT! Healing nicely and when he woke up, he didn't even try to mess with the bandage. Came home, he wanted to eat, drink (mom gave him his meds) and he went to sleep. So it was a good day! She thinks he will take a few more weeks to heal well enough to maybe stop using the bandages, but we will take it a day at a time. He goes back in next week. He is such a good boy!

Thanks guys! It has been rough, and watching him struggle to get the collar (and then the bandage) off, was very hard. But I feel better after seeing it with my own eyes. (I had them take a pic while he was under. Have to download it and will post it). That way I can really compare how he is doing in his healing.

Thanks guys! Yes, I am getting sleep as he runs like crazy on his wheel. Funny thing, there was a little piece of tape sticking up on his back last night, and I was going to take it off, but I figured he couldn't reach it. Well, when I checked on him this morning, he proceeded to dig in his blankies and he pulls out the little piece of tape to show me....lol It didn't effect the bandage at all by being off, so that is good. He looks good this morning and yesterday was his first day no pain meds, so that is good! I am sure he is happy to have one less med mom has to get into him! lol I know I am! I was rubbing all around his head and neck and he fell asleep standing there (so you know it felt good!) I will download the pic today so you can see how it is healing. It is graphic, but looks good compared to how it was. That boy really did a number on himself!!

He only crabs when he first is waking from the anesthesia usually...lol He actually bit me this morning when I reached in to pull him out for his meds (not hard). I guess he just wanted me to know 'he is not a happy camper'...lol But we are a team and are doing this together. I will do whatever it takes to get him better. I know he is doing his part! He is happy he can run in his wheel, eat his own mealies (even if they are cut up because he can't hold them because he can't get his 'hand' to his mouth), and just be a glider. Thank you, guys. I am glad I have the support of everyone here. It helps more than you will ever know!!
