That is the question!
I have the Ionic Breeze GP (germicidal protection). I have read about this ozone broohaha and yes i do smell something different. However, only when it's running under the germicidal protection mode. Is this model safe for fuzzbutts???

I had a similar one and I got rid of it rather than using it in the glider room. While that model may be safe in a well-ventilated area, I would not trust it personally in a not-so-well ventilated room, especially around small animals like gliders. They would have a much lower tolerance to something like ozone than a larger animal (like us!) would.
I don't know much about the GP part...I myself am an allergy sufferer and my allergist recommended one with a hepa filter, but not the ozone one...I am saving up to get one...really the hepa filter is the only thing that truly, effectively cuts down on allergens in the air. As for how something would clear germs, not sure how that would work?

The ozone-emitting air filters aren't recommended for use around humans with lung issues, like asthma, even though we are much larger than gliders. And that's just for the filter alone, not even taking into account whatever the germicidal protection thing may be. I would definitely not use one around gliders.

I recently purchased an air purifier and was told not to get that kind. I don't know about the germicidal protection thing though. HEPA filters seem to be the way to go. I got a relatively expensive one that has both a HEPA and a carbon filter to cut down germs and smell.

That's what we have, they're awesome. We've been getting smoke from the nearby fires lately and our hepa filters do a great job of keeping the house breathable. My son goes to one of the west coast's top pediatric allergists because his allergies are so severe, and the allergist is the one who told us to get hepa filters and avoid the ionic ones.

I had a small ionic breeze in my bedroom for about a year. It definately made the air in my room smell funny, like metallic and unfortunately at the time I had not known about the effects it has on the ozone and had it right next to my rats cage. They were constantly sick for no apparent reason and my ferrets hacked continuously. After moving to a new house, I decided to leave the IB behind and my animals no longer exhibit those behaviors. If I were you, I'd ditch the IB.

The ionic breeze is the invention that single-handedly flushed The Sharper Image down the toilet, at least that's what the owner was quoted in saying. After that Consumer Report's article came out, it was over, and they're now closing all of the stores. My ex co-worker has one at work, has extremely bad asthma, but loves it. I don't think I would put it near my little guys, though.

I bought a regular Ionic Breeze and an Ionic Breeze GP. I had to send the GP back because it made me seriously ill. I can only run the regular IB on low when I'm not in the room. I know that I am more sensitive than some people, but I figure if I can't handle it, my tiny ones definitely can't.
