I'll keep her in my bra for as long as I can then I'll put her in the incubator. This is my first time at trying to save a rejected joey. She peed a LOT the last time she peed, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Peeing is an excellent sign that she's becoming less dehydrated (they won't pee much if at all when they're dehydrated). Oh, and she may not poop for 24 hours or so as she transitions from mom's milk to the formula - this is completely normal, but, if it goes longer, a vet check is needed to make sure there's no blockage. Poop will be a yellow/orange color and soft (but not watery - watery is a cause for a vet visit)

I have her site already up and have read and re-read about rejected joeys.
I was crying buckets about an hour ago. She was so still and almost unresponsive. I couldn't get her to drink or pee. I thought for sure she was dying and my heart was breaking. (I can't believe how much I mlove this baby girl already!!!) I held her, crying, kissing and stroking her, fully expecting her to take her last breath any second. I refused to give up without a fight, so I tried yet again, to feed her. Suddenly, her eyes flew open and she began lapping the Pedialyte like she was starving, wiggling her little body all over the place! She drank 2 ml!!! She didn't pee nearly as much but she still peed! In 40 min, I sub-q her again. I think I will call Suz, if just for reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. I got some great pics of her that I'll post tomorrow. She's tucked back into my bra and I plan on staying awake all night to keep a close eye on her. Oh, BTW, I've already decided that I'm going to fib to my mom and let her believe that Eve didn't make it. I just can't bear the thought of letting go of her, esp when my mom no longer has the ability to be responsible for her gliders.

She pooped yesterday after being force fed Pedialyte. It was exactly the way it was supposed to be. But after missing at least 2 feedings last night, she became even more dehydrated than she was to begin with. I don't expect her to poop until tomorrow night. I remember reading about someone being excited about poop. I REALLY understand now!!!

Mary, thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks for telling me to call Suz!!!! I did and I feel SOOOOOO much better! She reassured me about how long Eve was going between feedings, about refusing the formula but drinking Pedialyte and said if the fall had injured her, she would be showing certain signs that she isn't showing. She said in the wild, mama's jump 150 feet from tree to tree and land hard, so joeys can take some pretty hard knocks and still be ok. I feel 100% certain Eve is going to make it just fine now!

The change in Eve from two hours ago is incredible. I was so sure I was losing her. Now, I'm having a hard time keeping her in my bra! I just sub-q'd her and it took me three tries to get her in a secure position so she wouldn't move while I stuck her! AND, she peed again! She just insisted on not staying in my bra. I took her out and looked into beautiful bright eyes. Now, she's cuddled in my hand. That's what she wanted instead of the bra. It's so great to see the turn-around this amazing! Oh happy day!!!!

That is so wonderful and I am really glad you are planning on keeping her. It really is in her best interest (and yours too). I hope that you can maybe take the rest of the family home soon so they can get what they really need.

that is such great news that she is doing so well. Make sure you take care of yourself also! Question? you have so many suggies, where do you manage to keep them all?

Connie, that is wonderful. I didn't want to say anything about your mom, but I agree. I think after this, its pretty obvious she can't take care of them. Its not her fault, but still someone needs to step in and take responsibility. I know your mom loves her babies and you do, too. I'm so happy to read how well Eve is doing. And so happy you called, Suz, she is WONDERFUL! Believe me, I have leaned on here quite a bit during this ordeal with Timmy, she is a Godsend!! Please keep me posted on little Eve and I am going to make her a very special cage set, perfect for a little princess!

Thank you! My hubby is going to keep an eye on me while I sleep for a while, to make sure I stay on my back. Eve is in my bra and I'm afraid if I roll on my side, she'll suffocate. I'm a DD and even with a good support bra, I found that when I turned on my side, my DD's mushed together. But if I'm on my back, everything separates just enough to not quish her but still keep her warm.
All of my other suggies have their own room plus my trio has their rept in the front room. They are my kids, so they should have their own room, right? LOL

I know my mom loves them deeply and wants the best for them. But I agree, she just isn't able to be responsible for them. It would break her heart to know that she isn't getting Eve back. That's why I'm going to fib and let her think Eve didn't make it. I'm even going to re-name her. She will be called Angel CassyAndra, after my daughter who passed almost 8 years ago. Her name is Cassondra Annette but I called her CassyAndra. I was the only one to call her that. It was a special name and Eve is a special baby.
I was holding her last night and crying my eyes out, begging her to fight harder and not die. She was so still and almost non-responsive and was breathing very shallow. I knew she was dying. I believe in my heart, my Cassondra heard my pleas and gave Eve/Angel CassyAndra, Angel Kisses to make her strong.
Suz was soooooo much help!!! Her reassurance eased my mind and heart 100%! She IS wonderful!
Mary, you make the most wonderful cage sets! I am so touched to know you're going to make one for Angel CassyAndra! Thank you!
P.S. I've discovered the incubator is great for keeping the baby wipes warm for cleaning her. That's all I used it for cause I couldn't bring myself to put her in it and have her that far away from me! (It's sitting right by my bedside! LOL!)

lol.....sounds like she is wrapping you very tightly around her little paw! I love the name and think it is very fitting! And I believe you are right, a very special angel is on watch over this one. I have the PERFECT material for her set, I have a barbeque to go to today, but will get started on it tomorrow. You are most welcome. Does this mean I am 'Auntie Mary'? lol

Thank you! I don't know who is more determined that she lives....me or her! She's eating a lot more and peeing a lot more too! She's progressed to eating the Pedilayte with Wombaroo and gliderade added to it now.

She is doing soooooo great! I'm positive she's going to make it. She has so much more energy, she's stronger, she's peeing every hour when I feed her and she's nyitching for me! heart I tried putting her in the incubator last night so she wouldn't be stressed from being held all the time. She had OTHER ideas! I laid in bed and watched the clock until time to feed her, unable to sleep due a very uneasy feeling in my gut. Finally, I couldn't stand it any longer and reached for the pouch in the GICU (GliderIncubatorCareUnit), pulled it out and peeked in to check on her. No Eve in sight, so I reached into the pouch to feel for her. NO EVE! shock ooo worried tant I jumped up, re-checked the pouch that I already knew was empty, then checked inside the GICU. It actually took me about 10 seconds to find her, cause she had crawled halfway across the GICU!!! When she felt me touch her, she started nyitching like crazy. Needless to say, she went straight into my bra and except for feeding every hour, that's where she's stayed and is going to stay!
Here is a video of her halfway thru a feeding. I'm going to try to get one next time of her from the start cause she gets that head a goin like one of those bobble-head toys!
A feeding takes 15 minutes from the time the alarm goes off til I'm back in bed again. She's a very efficient eater! I just weighed her and she weighs the same as yesterday so even tho she didn't gain weight, she didn't lose weight!!! dance jump mlove roflmao clap heart cloud9

I was going thru my videos and found one my grandson took of Eve eating the first day I had her. I uploaded it to photobucket. It's amazing, the difference in her! In the first video, it took three minutes to coax her to eat. Now, she slurps it down like a pro!
Here's the link. Sorry for the shakiness. Grandson was on skate shoes.
