It is great to hear that she is doing so well. I had a rejected joey that would not stay in the incubator either. Her name is Luna and she weighs 140g now. She would do the same thing if I put her in she would cry. You will never be able to do anything but keep her because she will be your baby forever mine is. It was hard tho getting any sleep with her in my bra. Good thing I had experience of no sleep from having kids.

It's the sound a joey makes when it cries for its mama. I can't remember where it is here to hear sounds gliders make but someone may come along who knows.

OK. To those who have raised rejected bra baby joeys....How do you keep them in your bra???? This lil bit is climbing all over the inside front of my shirt. Every time I put her back in my bra, she climbs out again!

I tried wrapping her in fleece.
She wiggles her way out.

I wrapped fleece around my bra, from top to bottom.
She wiggles her way out.

I wore a tight fitting shirt over my bra and under my tee. She wiggles her way out.

If I put her in a pouch, she doesn't get out but wiggles and crawls all around in it, trying to get out. Not to mention, it makes me look like my bra has three cups instead of two, if you know what I mean.

She'll be three weeks tomorrow. Do I let her "out to play"? How often and for how long? Doesn't she need to rest and conserve her strength?

I would think maybe playing would be good for her (might make her tired enough to sleep....lol) Active is good all things considered. Maybe let her play on some of your glider stuff and wear herself down a bit.....I have never raised joeys but it makes sense (a tired glider is a happy glider!)

I agree she needs to be out to play for a little but to wear herself out some. I have adult gliders that still wiggle like that (namely Wiggles, lol), and then when he finally does settle in and go to sleep, I find myself checking on him every 5 minutes because he's so still I think he's gone roflmao

She's still wobbly and so not coordinated, too much to play alone but she loves to climb all around in my tee. It just tickles like crazy!!! I don't want her to backslide. She's come way too far!

I just let my luna climb around in my shirt. I made sure it was tucked in so she couldnt fall out and hurt herself but I let her climb in there all she wanted then when they are tired they find a place to curl up and sleep. I know it tickles just wait until her nails grow long enough they hurt. Or she tries to teeth on you that is alot less fun. You are doing great with her keep up the good work.

Yikes! I forgot about the teeth! That's ok. She's worth it. I'll do the shirt thing. That sounds safe, even tho ticklish!

Connie, I can't believe I am JUST finding this thread! You are so wonderful (but I already knew that) smile
I was reading, crying, laughing, and thinking "wow, this is like her daughter's spirit..." and then I got to the naming part... WOW!

You have both been through a lot, and now you deserve eachother, FOUND eachother, and it is obviously meant to be!

I am soooo happy she is getting better, and giving you that extra love that you obviously needed wink

CassyAnndra gave me quite a scare this morning!!!!! shock worried ooo cry One feeding, she was fine except for some sneezing. Next feeding, she was way more dehydrated, lethargic and weak. I sub-q'd her before feeding and she didn't move. That wasn't normal because I've had a hard time holding her still to sub-q her. I had to keep coaxing her to eat, just like the first day, instead of her eagerly lapping the formula.

(Crying almost the whole hour to there) I rushed her to my exotic vet (she takes care of the exotics at the zoo). She said she doesn't know why Eve went downhill so fast but it could be because of the fall to the sidewalk last Fri. When she moves, she turns to the right, which is indicative of a brain injury. She is still uncoordinated but we don't know if that's from her age or brain injury.

They put her on oxygen and a heating pad as soon as we arrived. I was still crying hard so I waited outside for them to call me as soon as the vet checked her. I didn't want anyone to see me sobbing over something so tiny.

She sub-q'd her with an amount much different than I had been giving her and instructed me to sub-q once a day from now on, again, in a different amount than I had been giving her.

She gave her a steroid to reduce swelling of the brain, in case there was a brain injury.

She gave her dextrose by injection and orally, in case her blood sugar was low.

She said she wished she had samples to do a fecal float and smear and a urinalysis. CassyAnndra promptly peed on her. She didn't have a clean syringe handy so I caught the pee with my fingernail. When she came back with a syringe and got the pee from my nail, I told her she wasn't done peeing. She tried rubbing her bladder and I told her she needed to stimulate her cloaca. She asked me to show her how I did it so I did and CassyAnndra added more to the sample, plus gave her a couple of turdz too! Such a good little girl! The fecal tests were good and the urinalysis showed results within the normal range.

She gave her an oral antibiotic that she's to take for the next 14 days.

Her weight, which was 27 grams yesterday, was 21 grams today.

She said right now, what she needs most is the care I'm giving her. If there IS a brain injury, she could get worse but, she could also get better. She said if she has seizures, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. (Which is puzzling to me!) confused

I've been home long enough for 3 feedings. She's getting stronger already. She's lapping the formula now instead of me having to continually coax her to eat. She's drinking a full cc plus .01 cc spring water. My vet said she can have the water after she eats the formula, if she eats a full cc and is still hungry/thirsty. The water is actually watery formula because after she eats, I draw up water to rinse it out. I only draw up .01 cc till I know she's done, then rinse it out.

When I'm sure she's done, I clean her, try to get her to potty again (I always try before and after), then tuck her back in my bra.

She's not out of the woods yet so if ya'll keep the prayers and positive thoughts going for her, I'd very much appreciate it!

P.S. I'll send video links to her vet visit tonight.

I just logged onto the computer and wanted to check on the little one. Let us know how she's doing when you can, Connie. I hope you were able to get some rest as well.

At 9:30 this morning, I thought for sure I was going to lose her. She was lethargic, weak and didn't want to eat. "I", however, had OTHER ideas! I informed Miss CassyAnndra that momma was DETERMINED that she was NOT going to die, she WOULD eat and get strong and she WOULD live, no exceptions! Since she didn't want to open her mouth to eat, I forced it open, with the intention of getting her formula into her if all I could do was wet her tongue with it.

SHE HISSED AT ME!!!! cloud9 laugh dance jump mlove roflmao clap heart thumb grin

It was the most beautiful sound in the world!!! I knew, she was still fighting and still full of spirit! dance

I gave her 3-4 drops of Karo syrup (kinda hard to tell how much went in and how much stuck to her fur) and sub-q'd her on both sides of her back. She didn't like it and tried to get away, which was a great sign! After I got her awake, I coaxed a full cc into her, over the next 45 minutes. I have to admit, I cried the whole time. I was even thinking about PM'ing Mary (pappy1264) to tell her to donate the cage set she was making for CassyAnndra, to a glider rescue and do it in memory of my daughter. That's how bad CassyAnndra was.

Notice, I said WAS???

I put her back in my bra and laid back down. Every now and then, I could feel her wiggle around. It was a great feeling! At the next feeding, she was alert, bright-eyed, active, strong and HUNGRY! She ate the full amount and peed all over me! I was never so happy to be peed on! heart

She's back in my bra again and will still be fed every hour on the hour, 24/7. She gets her antibiotic this afternoon.

She's holding her own right now, but still needs prayers and positive thoughts as possible. She's not out of the woods yet. I'm sure everyone's prayers and positive thoughts are helping!

Just did her daily weigh-in. She's still 21 grams, same as yesterday. Didn't gain, but didn't lose!

Connie:

I have everything ready to make it, but I am not going to (maybe it is silly, but I just don't want to jinx anything). She will have her set, it is HERS! She is a fighter. I have prayed very hard for this little girl and she is surrounded in love. You go, little girl. Hiss, wiggle, and keep on fighting!
