Ok first I must admit I have been over feeding. I read that on the BML to give one tablespoon per glider. Well I have 4 in one cage and two in another.I do give them their fruits and veggie too. It looks like they are getting fat. We cut back a bit on the BML. Did not cut back on the fruits and veggies. How big are their stomachs? They have been cleaning the bowls clean. Just wondering what else I can do to make sure they don't exceed their limit on weight.

A suggies stomach is the size of your thumb's fingernail. :3 Of course, people have diff sized thumb nails but meh...that's what I've always heard.

I've started to cut my guys fruit back a little bit because fruit is fattening. Also, if you haven't already, I'd say to move your toys to the very center of the cage as far away from the sides as you can. That way, if they want to play with it, they have to stretch or climb down from the top...not grab it while they're hanging onto the side and just shift their body onto it. When I did that, my guys were losing weight like nothin. Some people will make their gliders stretch up if they are giving them a treat to "excercise" a bit too. :3

The BML is not making them fat and they need the vitamins in it to stay healthy, so I would cut back on the fruits. Corn will make them fat, too, if you have a lot of it in their veggie mix.

do they have wheels? what kind of out of cage play time do they get? what kinds of treats are they given?

with BML you're supposed to feed one Tablespoon per glider of each of the BML, fruits & veggies - so it'd be 4 Tablespoons of each component for the one cage and 2 Tablespoons each component for the other cages. Peas and corn are fattening, so you may try to limit them some

They have the wheels. They get to have tent time but not so much during the week. The weekends they get it though for sure. Treats.. Just the meal worms in the morning. We don't give a lot of treats. So you guys are saying that the BML is not making them fat, it is the fruit, corn, and peas?

Yes, if it's too much fruit. Yes, especially corn and sweet peas. The BML is most important that they eat it because of the vitamins and calcium in it.

how many mealies are you giving each morning and what size? As much as they won't like it, you may need to cut back on the mealies

They get about 3-4 mealies each. The small to medium size.

Eek I didnt know about peas being fattening! It's the first thing Renny goes for! I guess she's gonna be mad cause she's only getting ONE pea tonight LOL...I love her too much to TOTALLY deprive her of her favorite!

But I feed hpw...I dont think she's a chunk, but she is a little bigger than Quincy. I need a scale...

That's not too many, especially if you give them to them in the morning and feed them the BML at night.

on the bml recipe page it says to give 5-7 medium size mealies in the morning for dessert.
