Haven't bothered calling back yet. I figure once I get the bill, they'll actually have the complete results

Just been trying to keep my other one healthy. His weight's staying about the same, but he doesn't seem to be eating as much as he usually would.

hes probably stressed due to losing the one. also i would get him checked a urine culture and sensitivity and direct fecal float w/cytology to rule out any bacterial issues and parasites

That's mean of a vet! It tears me up how some vets and doctors don't care about anything but MONEY! I got rid of a vet we had used for YEARS because of that..ended up finding a vet that takes care of all animals..day or night and has everything in his lab and does surgery too. He only charges $20.00 for a visit and GIVES us the medicine if we can't afford it. The other vet we had charges $130.00 (yes, you are reading that correct!) and won't give you a thing without charging 300% on top of what it's worth. It paid for us to finally look around..we have TONS of vets here, thank God!

I would be all over that vet, tell him your baby doesn't seem right and you HAVE to know RIGHT NOW what the problem was so if it's something needing to be corrected with this baby..you can correct it. Eh, he's eating a fair amount of bml and has no problems eating live food. Fruits & vegs at night are what he's slouching on.

The vet seems to do everything on site, I was surprised they had to send her out for the final exam. Costs are probably about middle of the road, but nowhere near $20 for a visit ($35 I believe for a checkup type exam) and meds were all around 20-30 each. The one thing I do like about the place though, is its a 24 hour hospital and only a mile or two away. Supposedly its a recommended one, but some people have problems getting along with certain...employees there. There aren't as many exotic vets in this area as other places, sadly enough. This one and one across the river in Portland are supposedly the best in the area. I just haven't bothered pushing the vet because 1) its easier not dealing with it than get it all on my mind again, when I'm not sure if they'll have the information yet and 2) Just been spending time with my other glider. He still eats enough to keep his current weight, just doesn't seem to want as much at night when alone (as much as he used to, he was a pig). Then again, its possible he only did that because he thought he'd run out of food with 2 of them there, which they never did. Hard to tell when there's multiple gliders sharing one cage.

On a couple side notes, Ellen was a great help over the phone during the whole thing. The other, I emailed Bourbon when she requested, but never received anything back. *shrugs*

(((HUGS))) Since night is when they play and eat the most, could be that he's feeling kinda lonely and all. Do you have a couple little stuffed animals (safe ones) to put in with him to cuddle with? All ours love to cuddle with stuffed animals. It's good he's eating enough <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Where I live, there is a vet on like every corner...not kidding. Guess cause it's Kentucky...lots of farm animals everywhere. We have quite a few exotic vets too..but are way to expensive. If there is anything our vet isn't sure about, he will just call them and or look it up. He won't second guess which was something I wanted to make sure of.
Well, I've learned throughout the years of losing people and animals that we don't ever forget them but only time will heal the pain. I'm terrible at this cause I still think about little animals I lost when I was just barely walking. I seem to hold on to everything.
This may sound crazy, but I think I am TOO attached to Badger...it scares me to death. I love all our animals, they all get the same ...but something about him just ..I really don't know how to explain it.
Sorry for rambling on here, if no other reason, get the results to make sure your little boy wasn't exposed to something that can get treated now. They're really doing some quite intensive exams on her...testing/tested for all kinds of things. Guess whats taking so long is that they ARE testing for things that take time to show up/react. They ruled out bacterial infections with what they've done so far (will be scary when I get the paperwork, it sounds like there's going to be a lot on there which I won't have a clue as to what it means/is). They're looking into the encephalitis and inflamed areas of the kidneys. They don't sound worried at all about my other glider, with what their tests have shown. They're going to keep running tests until they can pinpoint what the exact cause it, but they haven't found it yet.

That's the main thing right now, that your other baby is okay and doesn't show signs of illness like the other one. When you get the paperwork, it should read the cause on it. A couple of people on here know how to read those.
