Ok, so there are a lot of glider diets out there. I personally use Suncoast, which seems easier to prepare as well as nutrionally sound. BML and others like it seem so hard to prepare and so time consuming. What reasons are there to chose BML over some other diets? BML seems to have a lot of contraversial things in it (as i assume most diets have) but so many people use it with great results so i know it is glider safe, but wha are they reasons people have for chosing BML over another simpler diet? this is a question i have had ever since i read about BML.

I fed BML for two main reasons:
1. I didn't have to order anything, so when I forgot, I could just run to the store(s)
2. I didn't have to worry about Ca:P ratios. It was all done for me.
I switched for a few reasons, though:
1. Most of my gliders refused to eat it.
2. It stank to make!

I started out with Suncoast, but I was throwing alot of it away every night (and was not giving too much to start with), plus if I wasn't careful I would run out and then have to wait till more came in the mail. Also, I was having to order more and more as I got other suggies. Everything in the BML I can buy at the store (although I do have to make a trip to the pet store in the next town when I get low on vit/cal). I'd also heard a lot about it, and I noticed that there were a lot of people who fed it & swore by it. I do still throw some away every night, but not like with the Suncoast and it varies from night to night.
Now, I not only feed BML but I've actually met and gotten to know Bourbon and I highly respect her opinion & suggestions.

When AmyMichelle's 4some came to live with me 18 mo. ago (wow it's hard to believe it's been that long! but they've been here since July 07) she had them on Priscilla's diet. And for the first month, that was the diet that they were fed in my BML world. But it only took 2 times of mixing the "chicken" part and the "egg" part that I began to really appreciate how simplistic the BML diet is. Two bowls & how many measuring things (a sinkful of dishes) PLUS firing up the broiler vs. one blender & 2 ice cube trays & 2 measuring things. I didn't have to stand in front of the freezer & ask myself "which night is this? chicken or egg?" (very little thought necessary). I don't have to BEAT on their bag to get a tablespoon for each glider. The gliders can't cheat by licking the vitamins off the top of the concoction. And if I run out of the 2 required nutrients, I can trot down to the pet store & GET THEM (no emergency rush orders FedEx'd here). If you ask 10 lawyers to interpret a particular law, you'll get 10 different answers. Same theory applies here. I've used BML since the "back to basics" remix came out...my gliders like it, they eat it, they look WONDERFUL on it. And until I hear several necropsies that say the DIRECT cause of this glider's demise was because of prolonged exposure to (whatever). I'll repeat that: SEVERAL necropsies...not just one. I switched AmyMichelle's babies over to BML not for "my convenience"...we (her babies & I) were coming home from visiting her & Dave (for the SECOND time) and they were skunking badly from the stress of the trip. It was so STRONG, it reminded me of when I first got the Indy bunch. That night, I switched their diet to BML...since then, their fur has fluffed up, their eyes are even brighter than before, and there's no "oily ring" around the top of their pouch after just ONE WEEK.

I slightly modified the suncoast for my gliders. i puree the fuits and veggies with the vitamins and then freeze it into cubes and give it to them each night. they kept dropping all the food on the floor and i was worried they werent getting enough. i usually have 2 different purees on hand to switch up which foods they are getting, and i change up what i put in each time so they get a nice variety. i'll prob always stay with suncast, unless something happens, but it is nice to know reasons for other diets if i ever do switch. I guess it also has a lot to do with what the gliders themselves like too!

I feed BML based more or less on these four reasons. 1.) My babies came to me eating BML 2.) Ingredients are available at local stores 3.) The mixture is fairly easy to prepare 4.) Experienced people & vets created the dietWhile I never changed my babies diet - I considered it for these two reasons: 1.) The mixture smelled while mixing it (i think it was the chicken baby food) 2.) My gliders waste (poop / pee) had an unpleasant odor to it But overall my gliders were always healthy and never over weight with the BML diet.

I don't feed BML only because I have gliders that will NOT eat anything with honey in it (BML, PML, HPW, tried all three of those with NO luck). I feed Reeps.
Is it Pricilla's vitamins or Suncoasts that shouldn't be frozen? I can't remember.

I've had good luck with bml and have been using it since Aug '07. My babies clean their plates. It's very easy to find all the ingredients at the grocery store then run over to Pet Smart for the vitamins.

what vitamins does pricilla use? She has her own secret ingredients. It has vitamins, calcium, bee pollen, acacia gum and probotics.
