If you don't have these things, a temporary one can be made out of a small plastic butter tub lid, cut it down to size, cut a hole in the middle of it to fit around the glider's neck, and cut from the hole to the edge of the lid. Cover the raw edge of the lid with bandaids and fit ot over the glider's head, use more bandaids to secure it where you made the cut to the edge. If there is anyone there with you that can do this for you, then you can keep the baby wrapped in fleece burrito style to keep her away from her belly.
Your glider is self mutilating and if you do not act quickly, she WILL kill herself.
Take a peice of fleece and wrap that joey up like she is a burrito. Roll her up where she can NOT get to her belly. HOLD her this way until we can get some help. You may have to hold her like this all night until you can get to the vet in the morning.
PLEASE PLEASE call Bourbon at 321 331 1608 She is the best help you can get with a self mutilator.

I just got off the phone with her, she is going to try to work on something to keep her teeth from her chest.. which is what she has scraped. We also discussed, changing the joey from the formula to a standard diet, but only the sappy part, she has a few options. the rest of her gliders is on the pp diet, and she also has some wombaroo HP to work with. I also suggested she give her some yogurt tonight, to help with her digestions some. The good thing is she is urinating and defecating fine, she is not dehydrated. at this time she has her wrapped up burrito style, but is going to work on somethings to make it more comfortable for her. I also suggested she put some neosporin on the scraped area, to help her there.
With the joey being so young, I would hate to put a collar on her,if it can be helped at all. But Robin great advice, that is the first thing they should do as a general rule.
She knows she can call me if she has ANY problems tonight.
Wow this is going to be a long night! LOL just wanted to update, she is eating some yogurt right now and i made her a shirt typeof thing and its acually working shes keepin it on and seems to be leavin her bad area alone! i got a pic of her belly, i just dont kknow how to insert it???
but i guess we will see how she is in the morning.
i just wanted to thank everyone for their help!! i have never had anything like this happen!!!! but thank yall sooooooooo much!

After you hit reply, go to the bottom of the page on the lower left you will see File Manager. Click on that, a box will appear, just follow the directions. You will not see the picture until after you hit reply.
I'm happy to hear that your little one is doing better. I hope that things will heal up for her quickly. Your doing a great job, and you are in good hands with Bourbon.

Bourbon said it looks like ring worm, or a fungus! and I think I have to agree!!!! I looked at it again and it does look like ring worm! So tonight I am just keeping her from messing with it, and taking her to the vet tomorrow! to figure it out.

Amanda, I'm sorry I missed your call - I've been fighting a migraine for 3 days now Anyway, you've gotten great advice from Bourbon. I tried to call you this morning and left a message. I did speak to Bourbon and she filled me in on what's happening. By the way, because the Joey Formula is made with Brisky's Booster Milk - it is fine to continue with it OR you can change to the nectar for the PP diet; either is fine. Bourbon thought you were referring to the pellets when you said Brisky's... Personally, I would stick with the Joey Formula for now. As for the area on her chest, I agree with Bourbon - it appears to be either ringworm or a fungus of some sort. In the incubator, what is the humidity level? Do the sides of the incubator bead with water at all? If so, the humidity level is too high and that may be the culprit for the fungus being able to develop. Please ask your vet about this in the morning when you get her in. Please keep us updated. I will be at work today, but leave a message if you don't get through to me and I'll call you on my way home from work. I will also check in to the board here during my breaks throughout the day
hope you had a good night with your baby.. we are all praying for you!

I didn't even know suggies got ring worm. I remember reading on here about another glider that had a round chew mark the other day and thinking it looked like ringworm. Wow... I have CATS! I need to give everyone a once over every week to head off any infestations. Luckily my cats do not go outside, so the risk is very low!
Suz, Teresa told me last night you don't usually take calls after 9 your time. Sorry bout that. I panicked and sent her your way without even THINKING about Bourbon. I just thought joey - SUZ! LOL
Glad you got some help last night! And I hope all goes well at the vet. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your little one!

well last night I made a vest type of thing to keep her from biting on the area, and I got it tight enough she stayed in it all night and it worked really well!
This morning I got Hope in to see the vet, He said it is a staff infection! so I got an antibiotic that has an inflamation ingredient with it so it should make her quit itching! and he gave me a shampoo to bath her in to help it also!
So I really hope this works! I will keep yall posted on how well it heals! thanks for everything!
My poor little baby looks terrible!!!!!!!!!!

The vest is an AWESOME idea! You're a great glider mom! I'm so glad you took her to the vet since this obviously was something only a vet could diagnose and treat! I love her name, BTW! LOL! (See my signature)
So glad she is doing better! great idea on the vest!!! wish I could figure out to do that for neuter surgery instead of an e-collar. would be more comfy for them. any ideas?
jillmarie, this little girl is only 6 weeks oop, so she does't have the mass fight in her that an adult would. she was able to get it off multiple times, and getting it just right was more difficult than it looks. we are/have been working on finding something similar to this that would work for neuters or cloacal sm's. but so far to no avail..
She is doing better today! Her Belly looks sooo much better its not all red it looks to be healing! and the vest is perfect it keeps her from getting at her belly! I made her a pink one today! shes soo cute! But she is still trying to bite at it when I took off the vest! So I really hope it heals fast, and she doesnt need to wear it for much longer!
