I just found this I haven't called for the specifics, I was wondering if any of you knew of it or has it? It's worth looking into, times are rough and I'd rather invest in peace of mind knowing my fur kids will always get the care they need without the added pressure of todays economy...

I have this one PetInsurance I think it's a great idea to have something like this for our babies. The cost can sky rocket with these little ones sometimes.

LSardou,
I completely agree with you. Costs can get incredibly high! That is a magnificent idea.

I knew that they had insurance for cats and dogs, but I never thought to check on insurance for gliders. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. I will most definitly look into it.

I just took a peek at it and got a quick quote for one of my animals (dog.) Then I started to think I wonder if they have a discount for multiples. Right now we have 5 dogs, 2 cats, and 20 gliders between us. I think I may call them and see what we can work out. It would be awesome if I can figure out a way to cover them all, especially living in the country, lol.

agree agree I have the pet insurance also. It does add up for alot of gliders and I have not added the joeys in yet as they are not old enough but compared to what it can cost you in an emergency..............I will gladly pay the insurance.

I have only filed a claim once for one of the gliders that had a urinary tract infection but I have filed several claims on my rabbits and I got a good chunck of my money back.

I only have one of my dogs on the policy and it has alot of options to pick and choose from. My other dog is having seizures and they won't insure her right now.

For the exotics they do offer a multi pet discount. I pay $11 per glider a month. So that would be $220 a month for your 20 gliders if you can afford that.

I looked into this a few mths ago for 3 dogs - 1 cat - 2 birds and my glider Junior - I do believe it's $25 per mth for each animal - unless I was on a different site -
I figured they all needed it - but that would be over $150 a month and if none of my animals got sick then what would I be spending that $ on -
I do have an animal fund just in case one of them decides to get sick - but sometimes vets only take a portion of this insurance not the complete bill
Check with your vet first before you go and get it -

This is just my own personal opinion

Can someone tell me how this works, please? Do you pay the normal bill at first then file a claim through the insurance company to recieve money back? Or do some vets accept it and you pay a copay like we do? I think this would be great, especially since I am going to the vet tomorrow for the 4th time since October.

I am also very interested in finding pet insurance to cover my dog and any future gliders... I saw a plan that began at $15/month which is not bad at all!

Most of the insurances you pay the whole bill up front than submit a claim. I think the ASPCA has pet insurance also, but I've never compared. I'm also thinking about the pet insurance.

I think VPI is the only one that does exotics though. And Yes I always pay upfront and they reimburse minus the deductable

For anyone with questions, I just talked with someone at VPI.

1. They only pay for health issues, i.e. illnesses, injuries, and not wellness exams.

2. You go to the vet and bring the claim form they give you with your ptes insurance package. When you check out at the vet, give them the form and they fax that form and doctors records and diagnosis to VPI.

3. She said that it generally takes about 2 weeks turn around time for them to process and decide if you are approved or denied to recieve money back.

Now, I got a quote for my 6 babies.

1. There is a deposit I have to make of $107.93

2. My monthly payments will be $66/mth ($11 per glider)

I hope that helps and of course those of you will more or less than 6 should call for a quote. I'm sure the deposit might be less or more depending on how many you are wanting to cover.

I have the VPI insurance for my Pomeranian and my Glider Harley.
It costs me 11.40 for Harley and $36.04 for Calie. They do not pay for wellness or Giardia testing. It is for certain things.

They have great insurance for dog and cats, the Exotic pet, insurance is for emergencies.

They give you claim forms and YOU fill them out along with a copy of your receipt to them and they will send you back what they do cover. You pay up front and get reimbursed. if you have multiple pets on their insurance you do get a discount.

For my dog I get all her shots covered, her frontline, her heartguard. I feel that $36.00 is peace of mind and will cover her for most things if an emergency happens.
I only know the glider doesnt cover wellness, but thankfully have not used it for emergency.
