Hi all,
I'm new to the boards and I'm about to become a 1st time sugar glider mom smile Planning on getting them around the end of May/beginning of June and I'm still in the research phase.

I have a question about filling out the permit application for NJ. I downloaded the forms here NJDEP of Fish & Wildlife Services (Individual Hobby Wildlife Species Possession Permit Application (for pets) - all the way on the bottom of the page)

They mention a 20 day temporary permit (the pink slip).
Can someone explain what that is and where do I get it?

ps. I already contacted the borough hall to find out if gliders were legal in my town (they are), but they didn't mention any temporary permits. I also asked the breeder that I'm planning to get my suggies from, and she doesn't know what it is either.

Thank you smile

If Sugar Gliders are legal in the state that you reside in than it's not necessary to obtain a permit.
However, there could be certain counties where they could be, so you might want to check with your local USDA office to find out for sure.

Hi, thanks for your response. I wish that were true, it would make things much easier frown However, although they are legal in NJ, you do need a permit to own one.
Anyone else have an idea of what this 20 day temporary pink permit is and where do I get one?
Thank you smile

I would contact your Fish and Wildlife department to ask (since it is on their forms). You may also be able to contact your local Animal Control office to ask if it is needed in your area and what/where to get it. But they may or may not know either. dunno

Thanx for your advice Sugarlope smile
I called the Fish and Wildlife departmentand they said that the pink slip is the receipt you get if you buy a Sugar Glider at a pet store in the state of NJ. Since I will be buying my gliders from a private breeder out of state, they told me to just send whatever documentation I get from the breeder upon purchase.

Hope this helps others who are from Jersey smile

Thanks for the update! Good Luck, and don't forget to post pictures of your babies when they are all settled in!

I read somewhere that you only need a permit if you own 2 females.
