So I've been watching my sister's cat for a week now while she went on vacation. He's an indoor outdoor type of cat, which of now he will stay outside until my sister gets back tomorrow or sunday. Normally he would stay in the house during the day and outside at night, but somehow today he JUST realized there was a little glider in the house.

Sugar was in her cage, sleeping in her pouch, and Zak broke through the cage, which happened to scare Sugar, and made her try to get higher in the cage, well Zak grabbed hold of my baby, and tore downstairs. I was getting the kids ready for bed, and my fiance was watching tv. This all happened in literally a few seconds. We got my glider back, she's got a small puncture in her side, and thats all i seen. I'm taking her to the vet as soon as they open and after that she's staying with me at work. Please pray she will be ok.....

Well i took her to the vet as soon as they opened. And as of now Sugar's name is changed to Miracle. She has a open wound on her webbed skin, which is a 1/4 cm away from her side (which he vet said if it hit her side she would have died.) She's on pain medicine, and i have to give her Baytril injections, and Metacam and pray she's gonna make it. the vet said she couldnt stitch it due to the location of the wound, and after they cleaned her up, the wound looks to be the size of a dime. It may or may not puss, and if it does then she has to go in right away to get it drained. I'm gonna have a long road ahead of me. she also said the cat injured her leg, but its not severe as the rest of the wounds. As of right now Miracle is now at work with me, and she's going to stay at my side until she heals.

I will pray for your miracle! Cat bites almost always become infected! I'm glad you thought quickly to get her to the vet! You are a good glider mommy!

For everyone's consideration:

This shows how dangerous it is to have other animals around gliders. I can't think of any warm blooded animal that would NOT be a predator to gliders. I hate that my mom has poodles in her house. One of them killed two of her gliders, two years ago, when she laid their pouch down unattended for less than a minute. The female had a joey IP. Thank God, I was able to use one of my gliders as a surrogate and was miraculously able to save the joey (who now has three children of his own!), but nothing could be done to save the mom and dad. The dog didn't kill for food. The dog killed from instinct.

MY only other pets are, three fish in an aquarium that is covered, so that gliders can't get into it, should they get out of their cage. It's too great of a risk to my babies, for me to have any other animals in my house. JMHO

She passed away earlier today. She was doing fine after the vet visit, then all of a sudden started having seizures. She died in my hand at work. I've been crying all day, and tomorrow im going to donate her body to the vet clinic for Dr. Vincent's class's. They wont cut into her, but they will use her body to understand more about gliders. I'm also giving back the medicine and going to tell them to give it to the next person in need when they bring in a glider from this sort of injury.

Me too, and i only had her for a few weeks, and I promised my best friend i would take care of her. I dont know what im going to do. I enjoyed my time with her, she was a sweety, and we just got to the point where she would stay around me, and play on me when i had her out. Now i dont get to enjoy that time no more. Who ever knew that only after a few weeks she had my heart, and now she's gone.

I am sorry to hear that your baby has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. May your memories of your short time together comfort you in the days to come.

SO sorry for your loss, but please try not to hate the cat. He cant help doing what he's designed to do. I have multiple species in my house and I THANK GOD they all actually co-exist very well. I feel it's alittle taste of heaven God grants me to help me get through life (humans are sooo hard for me to deal with) I love that scripture in the Bible (Isaiah 11:6-9 "the wolf will lie with the lamb...") that shows how some day we will ALL co-exist peacefully. Right now your little one is in heaven and playing with all sorts of other animals and is watching over you! be happy! she would want you to be! and get another glider to give a good home to!
