A few of us have been talking about this and I wanted to post to get everyone thinking about it. God forbid, but if something serious were to happen to you, or you became incapacitated in some way, do you have anyone close by that could help care for your gliders or even get them to new homes? Things happen, unfortunately and our gliders aren't the kind of pet that just anyone can take care of. Think about who you trust & is close by and exchange info with them. I have the notebook from TGI and have added my own twist to it! Along with the info already there, each one of my gliders has a page that includes pictures, name, oop or aquired date and all other pertinent information. Each cage has a key chain type tag on it with the names of the gliders in that cage. Storm season is coming and you just never know what can happen, so be as prepared as you can be. Get yourself a Glider Godmother today! I'm in Michigan and would be glad to help anyone that wants me to! Maybe we could put a special smiley in our signature so others would recognize us as Godmothers?

I have a Glider Godmother and I am also one to the same person! My Aunt that lives less than 45 minutes away has 6 gliders right now, and I have my 4. And we trust NOONE we know as much as we trust each other where it concerns the care and well-being of our glider babies. Heck, I even travel to her house about twice a month and we have a sewing fest, play with suggies and clip branches frmo her pear trees for them to play in. Today I took my Genji to prove to her that she NEEDS one! LOL It's nice to have someone that close with glideritis

I do believe it is the same notebook. I got it at the TGI Expo last fall and added the personalized pages for my crew.

It's an excellent idea. I have my Glider Godmother and I am hers. Tammyangel in MO. It's comforting to know that if I couldn't care for my babies, that someone I trust 100% would care for them for me.

Amdana1981 is my contact and I'm hers. If for some reason I can't get her I know I can call Patricia (mylittleshadow) as she lives close and I know that she would call me if she needed me.

LOL Monika......I am hoping Peggy will be GliderGodMom to my group of 6 1/2 (joey IP for SugarMama!). I also will have to list and detail the same thing for our reptiles. Not many folks want to be reptile GodParents!

My hubby, of course, is my glider's Daddy... and my friend, Clayton, is Scout & Gracie's Godfather (and Soluna goes where they go)... and Paula is, of course, Chili & Honey's Godmother... I am sure, if they do end up one big colony, that Paula would gladly be the Godmother for the whole crew!

What we need to do for you, Whitdog, is introduce you to some of the folks who live down in the Bluegrass State with you! I know of AT LEAST 6 people who live in Kentucky. The problem is that you haven't had an opportunity to meet them yet! Now I will grant you that Kentucky is a lot like Indiana: to travel the LENGTH of the state is a bit of an ordeal...but not an impossibility. In a genuine emergency situation, you'd be AMAZED at what kind of miracles can happen.

Erica!!! When did you say you would be my gang's GodMom?!?!?!?
I chose Peggy because she is close and has the means to find them trusted homes if it came down to that. And because she is very knowledgeable about them, and she was such a BIG help to me when we first had a joey IP...... JoJo.
The funny thing is, Poor Peggy doesn't even know she is being chosen ! If I had any family members willing to take any of my babies on, I would be happy, but they are all about dogs or cats.....period.
They like to visit our zoo, but want absolutely NOTHING to do with owning anything more exotic than a Chihuahua.
I am seriously looking for a God Parent for the Suggies now though......as well as the scaley babies. Funny thing is, all our reptile friends are terrified of the Suggies (these are folks with venomous snakes and tarantulas & scorpions as pets......go figure!!).
But since I do have a baby IP, I am looking for a home for the little one ...... I know it may be a consolation prize, but maybe someone (Erica) might be interested......if so, a PM will work.

Great plan but so far I haven't met any fellow Texasuggie moms or dads. But I have 6 that would need a special home should something happen to me And for my two beloved birds. Hope some day to meet them and would love to have a suggiegodmom standing by just in case.
As time goes by and my loves pass. I will forever be greatfull for the time we had together. I will see you soon my loves.

Izzyandrileysmom is the Godmother to all of my crew except my "A" team, they will go back to Val ( Jackie_chan_mom ). I chose her because she LOVES ans SPOILS her babies as much as myself. And it really touched my heart when she offered her home to me, the glider gang and my 2 sons when the hurricane was headed to Mobile last year. We have never met so that really shows how wonderful she is. And she is NEVER mixed up in any of the dramatics. Thanks again Sharon.((((HUGS))))

Also, just wanted to point out that the whole discussion Lynn refers to started because of the thread about Travel Emergency Preparedness that I started last week... So, if you haven't read through that one yet, you should - there are a LOT of things to think about before traveling with your gliders

Yes it was Denise who first mentioned this in a PM. I asked her about it and was given the go ahead to open it up to the board. Many have responded favorably and hadn't really thought about it until now. So please, everybody, get in touch with someone you trust and exchange information. Write it all done so your family knows what to do. I know I would hate to be worrying about my suggies as well as trying to recover from some catastrophe myself!

Jessica!! Remember when I talked to you about me wanting your suggies that you were trying to rehome. I said if you ever need help let me know Guess that wasn't clearing it up... But I'd be a glider god mom for anyone who asks... I don't have one as of now. I'm to shy to ask Peggy. LOL! Aren't you in Cedar Park? Or maybe it was Corpus Cristy... If you are in Cedar that's not too far from me. I dunno how many scaleys you have but if something were to happen to you I'd be willing to take them in and find a nice home for them. About your baby... send me an email zeroquest@gmail.com

karen (sugeebaby) will help if something happens to me and Bill, but Cassi (who lives with us) can do short term care.... though she doesn't want the responsibility for them long term. I just hope and pray that it never comes down to anything more major than Cassi can handle with some phone called assistance... and if anyone within an hour or 2's drive needs us to help, just let us know.. I know Bill and I will step in, though if you are too far, your cages may temporarily be relocated back to our glider room... if I can handle 18 rescue gliders plus my 4 for a week, and some of the other things we've done, we can make things work..

Just email me or get my numbers from my signature or website. Hopefully, you will only have to contact me for good stuff! But know I'm there if ya need me!

Yes, Suz, it was that 4-alarm MAYDAY that AmyMichelle sent out nearly 2 years ago that got LAB123 and me talking about "if anything SERIOUS ever happens, have your hubby CALL ME..." And take my word for it: it's NO FUN to be in a situation where you need SOMEBODY to step in & take over caring for your gliders while you're frantically tending to other matters...and have NOBODY to be your "safety net". Ya know, tornado and hurricane season is just around the corner...today is a GOOD DAY to start working on getting your plans together!
