I'm thinking it's just like leu where both parents have to have the gene. If you bred a het to a normal you would just produce a lesser percentage of a het. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along and answer your question.

I know for a fact that you can place a het with a normal and get WT's. My hets throw WT's all the time with their grey mates. smile Of course my hets are from two WT parents so the likelihood of them BEING hets is higher and thus the likelihood of them passing it on is higher as well! smile

Hope that makes sense LOL

TBull (Teresa) has a het of mine that threw 2 WT's and grey when paired with his grey mate... He has since been neutered. smile I also had another of my WT hets have 2 WT joeys with his WF mate. He has also been neutered since.

You only need one WT or WT het to produce WTs. wink

Having a WT or a WT het is no guarantee you will produce WT. I've had various set ups with WT's (WT/WT, WT/normal, WT/WF, WT/WT Het, the list goes on) and I have never once produced a WT... I think the key is what WT line you buy from. Some of the WT lines really pass on the WT gene, others... don't. Do your research, before you buy smile

I stand corrected than. Is the WT the only color gene that you can have a het paired with a normal and you could possibly get a WT?

As far as we're aware, yes, WT is the only color gene where you only need one het to reproduce the color wink

Also, as I said, having a WT is no guarantee you will EVER produce the color. There are a lot of inconsistencies in the production of WT's. Some pairs will randomly pop out with a WT and never have another one, some pairs will throw WT's left and right. Having a WT or WT het doesn't mean you will ever produce a WT joey. You may have none, you may have many.
