Hugo has always been a chewer and still is. The little booger will go around chewing on everyone shakehead I have tried alot of different stuff to keep him occupied but am running out of ideas.

I have tried:
1. Barrel of Monkeys
2. Euc Branches
3. Apple Branches
4. Plastic rings & Milk Rings
5. Chewable tube (found in hampster section also safe for gliders)

Does anyone else know of anything I can try or any good toys he can have? dunno

Have you tried cholla wood, or one of those bark toys that Peggy carries?

No I haven't! Where do you find the cholla wood?

How long do you leave the bark toys before disposing them?

Cholla wood sometimes you can find at the bird toy supply sites, or ebay... I think you can even find some at pet stores sometimes, but probably expensive.

I've never tried the bark, but I've had a couple toys with cholla wood, and I just wash them like normal.

And the cholla wood is safe, it won't splinter? I really appreciate your help in this Helen!

I think Helen might be talking about cork bark? Many, many gliders LOVE to chew on cork bark!

As for the cholla, CalleJean has been making cholla wood toys for gliders for years. I have never heard (nor had) any complaints with cholla. smile

If we never loved, then maybe we would never feel pain. Love anyway. It's worth it.

Hmmmm, thankyou Gretchen, I was just concerned because i've never heard of cholla wood before and I just thought any wood is not suggie safe so I wanted to be sure.

Cholla is what is left over after certain types of cactus die and dry up. It does not splinter or contain any tannins or harmful junk that could hurt your sugar babies. I had a parrot toy that my girls LOVED! But they also like to just hang out in it (It had a good 4 inch hollow in it) and I had to throw it out. After that, someone told me I could have just put it in the dishwasher without soap to pretty much steam clean it! DANGIT! LOL

I make toys for small animals and my gliders love cholla and other wood. I have one heavy chewer that loves wood. He wont really play with anything but wood toys. My website is listed in my signature.
