USDA recently started posting inspection reports online. If you are interested go here.

Animal Welfare

Then about half way down the page select “inspection reports"

Then select what type you want. Probably breeder or Dealer.

Then select a state.

Some are listed under the company name and others are listed under the company onwners's name. Click on whatever name you want and the reports will open up.

If you find anything, please let us know.

Thanks Anita! smile

I checked Florida and from what I've seen, it lists the number of gliders present at the inspection whereas most other states don't.

Tammy that seems to be up to the inspector. I'm wondering what it would take to make that mandatory. I know that the numbers don't tell the whole story but it is an important link as to what is going on with a breeder or dealer.

Check out D H Farms in Plant city. Hope you don't have a weak stomach.

The other thing that maybe could be done it requiring the pet industry on the retail level, Dealers and Pet Store to publicly post their source.

Ok, I was only able to check a couple so far and I was thinking maybe just the dealers not breeders who had the # of animals listed. Seams like they don't list too much info. Do you know if this is all the info they have on record for each one or all they actually post online. If this is all the info they have seems like they need to step up their program! Like at the very least a check list to mark off as far as conditions etc. Also, like you mentioned before, we don't know if this is just adults. I'm sure if someone called they could tell us what a standard head count consists of. Also, one random person I checked was a dog breeder and they had LOTS more info listed for them ~ what they talked about etc.

Crystal, keep in mind that the inspectors are much more knowledgeable about dogs than they are about gliders - that is why they can list more information. Also, the USDA regulations about dogs are much more specific than they are about exotics. When I was a USDA licensed Class A breeder, I was actually educating my inspector about gliders. He was very appreciative that I was willing to take the time to teach him what he didn't know... Just like us, they are still in the learning curve, so unless it's something obvious... ohwell

So just how does this work?? Seems she is every where but only has 1 address on paper work.

Quote:
2.8A licensee shall promptly notify the AC Regional Director by certified mail of any change in the name, address,
management, or substantial control or ownership of his business or operation, or of any additional sites, within 10
days of any change.
*A complaint had been received from another licensee in North Carolina that a vendor was selling sugar gliders at a
flea market on weekends under this facility's license and was keeping the sugar gliders at her home during the week.
USDA inspectors in TN and NC visited several flea markets to interview vendors. The NC inspector verified that the
vendor did keep the sugar gliders that were not sold at her home until the next flea market. The sales records for the
flea market in NC showed that on the weekend of 12/23-12/24 the vendor started with 7 gliders, sold two gliders and
returned zero gliders to licensee.
*Sites that house sugar gliders under a license must be listed as actual business sites on the license so that
inspections can be conducted to ensure compliance with the regulations and ensure the health and well-being of the
animals.
*All vendors who keep sugar gliders and do not return them to the licensee at the conclusion of the flea market sale
must be listed as sites on this license or must obtain their own license. In both cases, USDA inspections will be
conducted. Correct by May 31, 2007.

I don't understand why breeders are still USDA certified if they have numerous complaints and records of all kinds of issues.
