Holy cow!!! No wonder my new gliders were so unhealthy when I got them. They were getting this stuff nightly for 4-6 months before I got them! Along with glider booster and exoticnutrition pellets (which were soaked in gliderade)!!!

Personally, I don't see anything that bad about the analysis. Copper is a nutrient in limited amounts, so that is probably why it is present at ppm levels. "Ash" is a normal component of all food, it is essentially what is left after protein, carbs, and fat. All mineral content is ash.
While lead and cadmium are certainly not desirable, they are present in all sorts of foods. I could be wrong, but the values listed look like minimum detection limits (MDLs). If the values is listed as less than the MDL, that basically means that the lab couldn't find any. However, since they can detect less than the MDL, they can't certify the concentration as 0.

I was just going to give them some like once a week for a treat, but if it is going to harm them, then I won't.

If you are second guessing Monika.. I always say go with your gut... if you are uncomfortable using this.. there are several other products you can look at.

Monika, before you order anything, you might want to print out what is in this and contact your vet and see what they think. This is one of the things we often see in the community, people are too quick to just go along with someone without asking all the questions and seeking info on things for themselves. Im NOT saying this is bad, all I am saying is instead of just saying ok I will use it, do your research, as Kris is doing, before using it.

Peggy, you use to use gliderade, what do you think about the stuff in it? I do not know much about food and qualities, especially for gliders. I wanted to order some for them to have a treat once a week or so, just something different, I just all of a sudden read this and got scared

I don't use glideraid, never have but...I'm confused.
People have been giving this to their gliders for years now. Why is it all of a sudden a concern? Is there a medical reason or suspicion for it being questioned at this point?

Teresa, I think the big concern is the arsenic, copper and lead listed in the ingredients that are posted in the first post. I have never used this either.

Jen, I understand that but those things are found in most foods we eat in trace amounts. Does anyone know at what levels these things are actually harmful?

I totally agree with Peggy. I'm interested in the Lorikeet nectar because it is suggested as a treat in the diet plan I am following. Glideraid is mentioned in some of the diet plans also. You should just stick to whatever the diet plan is you are following.

Guys.. I did NOT post this information to cause panic, to say it's good or to say it's bad! I posted it because we as a community have NEVER gotten it before.. We have been "told" that it has good vitamins and minerals.. including calcium. As you can see it does not. It is used in many diets and therefore should be looked at, just like we look at anything we give to our gliders. If anyone is not comfortable feeding it based solely on the ingredients there are other things to replace it out there. Monika, I dont think anyone is going to tell you weather to use it or not.. again.. take the copy to your vet and ask his opinion.. look at the other nectars available, print those out and let him see and give you his thoughts on each. Again.. I am NO ONE to say it's good or bad.
