I've heard about the benefits of kefir before, and decided to get a plain bottle to try. Kefir is similar to yogurt. Here's a link for those who've never heard of it before: http://www.kefir.net/kefiryogurt.htm or just type kefir into your search bar. Humans are the only animals I know of that are able to keep lactose-digesting enzymes into adulthood, but in the same way as yogurt, kefir is fermented and most of the lactose is consumed by the bacteria. Anyone here ever fed kefir, or know of anything about it that might disqualify it as an occasional glider snack?

I thought you were asking if anyone fed your glider named Kefir.

Thanks Karen. I think I'll try a little bit tonight as an after meal snack. My gliders always seem to get into things that they aren't supposed to be snacking on, despite my caution, but I like to make sure before I indulge their little bellies in something that might upset them. xD
Ninja_Jack... wow. hahahhhhahaha.... yes, Kefir is a friendly little glider that usually somehow ends up in other peoples' houses, so I wanted to check and make sure she was getting fed properly. ;-) That comment pretty much just made my day. xD

As it turns out, despite the somewhat sourish taste, they LOVE it. xD I'm gonna have to go buy some more now and see if I can get some fresh fruits or something to flavor it with. The one I tried is the lowfat version, so maybe I'll try the other this time and see how they like it.

Yeah. I like that it can actually colonize the intestinal tract, unlike yogurt. I got the flavored this time, and they (and I) love it even more. Me and my suggies are addicted already, methinks. They can't have too much, though, 'cuz it's mine!!!! lol xD
