I would like to give a piece of advice for those who have babies are getting daddy neutered. Watch the babies or they may think he is mommy.

We recently got Coffee, Crash and Link neutered at apparently the wronge time. Mommy (Zelda) is starting to win her 6 week old oops. Well Sif and Lily mistook Coffees cut as her pouch and made a pouch out of it. We took him back to the vet (we followed everything the vet said (pain meds, seperate for 4 days, ect.) He looked fine when we put him back with the babies now he is living on his own for the next 10 days. Then when we took Coffee out last weekend they went after link.!! They tried to turn his cut into their pouch. So something that should have not happened did.

Please do not give me a lecture. I followed everything my vet told me to and an ecollar would not have worked seeing how the boys left their stuff alone. Now I have to take Link back to the vet today. He has been bleeding and the stuff that they did the stitches with is hanging out of his cut! OUCH! Time for more pain meds and antibiotics!

Ahh Rachel, I'm so sorry hug2 Of course no one's going to "yell" at you. There's no way you could have anticipated all of this happening. Thanks for the warning though because I never would have thought a joey would try to open up the neuter site shakehead

Bless your heart! You have had some real traumatic times with these guys! I for one am sooooo glad I'm done with the whole neutering thing. I only ended up with minor problems and I just about went crazy!

Well I just got back from the vet with Link and it breaks my heart that I have to keep him away from his mate that he has been with since he was 3-6 months old and he is 2.5 years old! The babies apparently did a number on him. He had part of his skin hanging off the spot and a buldge that looked funky. It was full of yucky yellow stuff. My vet was like you little girls are so bad! We figured out that momma is trying to win them and once again sorry if I am repeating myself. No sleep and sick for over 2 days and I have 2 more to go. The vets assistant asked me to keep him as close as possible to me at all times and keep him in an open pouch to were I can see what he is doing at all times. Time to brew more coffee.

I'm so sorry! Thank goodness you took him to the vet! Since he has such a bad injury now, please keep him in an ecollar. Did the vet give you pain meds and antibiotics?

You can keep the cages fairly close together (8") so they still see and smell each other and can talk and have some interaction. When he heals up better, in 2-3 weeks, they can have closely supervised playtime. That should help ease the stress of being separated.

We're here if you need us!

Wow, I can't even imagine what that must have been like! Poor guys -- and then you having to go through all that stress. I hope he recovers quickly and the joeys get nice and strong for all the pain they put him through.

One more example of gliders being unpredictable! I'm so sorry you are going through this with yours, and glad you have the courage to post such a trying situation. It is good to have the reminder that no matter how many neuters you've got behind you, anything can still happen.

Thank you for your prayers. I think it might have helped. It was intresting when Link woke up last night he was so hyper and jumpy. He has not been this way in about 2 weeks. I called the vet and she said it was because of the pressure of the build up! OUCH! So he is feeling alot better. He also looks a great deal better too.

I was given pain meds and antibiotics. anti-biotics twice a day and pain meds for the next 4-7 days up to Link and his discomfort.
