I have my very tame 2 year old, Salem in my hood right now. He was looking as if he was a bit restless and i know my hood is a comfortable place where he can always fall right asleep in. Since I'm staying home all day I plan to allow him to stay in there as long as he pleases, or until it is his dinner time, whichever comes first.
Will he wake up to let me know he is hungry or has to potty? I'm not too worried about the potty part, if he goes a little in my hood it's not going to kill me, moreless him getting hungry.
I have an apple for him. Should i just offer it to him every few hours?
Sorry I'm kinda new to this...

Offer the treat to him every couple hours. Also offer him water. He will come out of the hood and potty somewhere else when he needs to go potty since he sees his hood as a pouch.
There should be no problem if the back of the hood is secure enough that he wont fall out of course.
I let my babies sleep in my bra for up to 10 hrs a day. THey come out and go bathroom on me. Then go back in. Then when they get hungry or thristy a head will pop out and they will whin. (yeah their spoiled)

My hood is plenty secure.
And thanks you for the advice.
And we know no such thing as "spoiled" in the glider community. Lol ya right...

When mine are on me, I do like Rachel does and offer them water or treats every so often. Mine usually don't come out to potty until it's getting close to their time to wake up and yes, they let me know it is time, lol! They start wiggling a lot! Believe me, they will let you know when they want something hehe!
I have never tried letting them sleep in a hood before. I have heard others doing this too and it looks like fun!

when my girls are w/me,i give them 1 mealie each,& alittle bit of an apple,or a grape, anything w/a high liquid content, just enough to give them the fluid they will need. but i don't give them too much,or too often, since their tummies are only as big as our thumbs,i don't want to fill them up w/something not as nutritious as supper, whenever i did overdo it during the day,i found that they really didn't eat as much of the good stuff they needed to keep them healthy,& if they were to get sick,or not get enough of what they need each nite,it would be no ones fault but my own. josefine

I have to step in here with my thoughts on this. It is not at all uncommon for new glider owners to think they should wake their gliders during the day to feed/water them, but do they get up during the day to eat drink when they are not on you? Some gliders do, and if that is the personality type of the glider you have, then yes, go ahead and feed them IF/when they get up. A long time glider owner asked me, many years ago, "How would you feel if someone woke you up every 1-2 hours throughout the night to give you something to eat or drink? You would be pretty upset, right? And you wouldn't get any decent sleep? Now imagine someone doing this every night for several nights in a row..." Our day time is their night. It is not necessary, nor healthy for them to be woken up repeatedly throughout the day. If they are hungry or thirsty, they will get up and tell you so by moving around. If they are sleeping soundly, leave them be.
