Mary, through your courage, you gave Pru one more day with you. You give hope for future gliders. You educate the medical system, and you show us, how deep your love for all of your babies is.

I am so sorry for your loss of sweet Pru. She was truly a blessing and her death will not be in vain.

Glide pain free, viewing your heavenly domain with sighted eyes, sweet Pru :rbridge: over the rainbow bridge. You will forever be loved, missed and remembered, by so many.....

I want to personally thank everyone for the kindness that has been extended to me during this whole ordeal. My mind is still trying to process everything, but I do not have any regrets with the things I chose to do. Pru truly was an amazing girl. I would have had her three years this coming April. She was used (overused) to make babies. She NEVER should have been bred, she was blind. Although no one can say if this attributed to her situation, it certainly did not do her little body any good to be bred back to back to back, over and over. I am hoping that something that can help other gliders will come of this. I promise to get everything written up and sent to Suz, as she will make sure it gets where it needs to (my vet will also be writting something up, as well. She knows this info needs to be 'out there', so maybe other vets will start thinking 'out of the box' so to speak.)

Pru taught me that there is no such thing as a 'disability'. She lived a full life (after coming here) and wanted for nothing. She even learned to glide!!! She loved her family and didn't like to be far from them for too long. She was the matriach of the group and when Piper had Paige and Cole (she came her preggers), Pru never left their sides (she would wait for Piper to eat first then come back every night). They always rode on her back, not Pipers. She was so gentle and kind. (Well, when she came to me, she was very scared, but it didn't take her long to figure out she was safe and all crabbing stopped.) I still remember the first time I had out of cage time with her and Piper. Pru couldn't wait to explore (Piper took a little longer). But when she got scared, she would run to me and hold my finger (just as she did at the end). She would follow my voice and came to me when I called her.

I would keep a pic of how their cage was set up, so nothing would be 'different' when I changed things out.

She LOVED wax worms, and shortly before she passed, my bug order arrived. I cut a waxie open and held it for her as she licked it.

Her family is definitely being effected by her being gone. There was a lot of fighting in the cage last night and I had to keep running in there to break it up (that has not happened in a very long time). I am spending extra time with them, hoping I can help them as they grieve.

The night she passed, no one touched their food (well, except the worms, of course). They all know she has gone on ahead, I believe.

My vet cried yesterday. She told me Pru taught her so much, as well. (We had to laugh as we remembered her gliding in her office and giving both of us a heart attack!! lol) She said she is a true hero, and that she hopes her life and death will help others to help their gliders. She knows how important that is to all of us.

So as I end this (sorry for being so long winded), again I want to say thank you. Not just for the kind words about Pru, but for all I have learned here over the years. We have so much to learn but I am so thankful there are so many out there trying. My vet said to me yesterday 'many years ago, very little was known about ferrets, but medical science has come such a long way with them. I hope we will have the same thing with gliders.' Amen.

Here is a pic of my Pru, right after she came out of surgery last year for her anal gland removal. You can see she was holding on to my finger here, as well. I love this pic of her, she was such a good girl.

Love your gliders! Peace.
