While searching on amazon for other options besides the genji tent I found these

http://www.sansbug.com/

I don't have the extra cash to buy one yet but they are around $40, nearly all mesh, fold down into a very small disc, and the longer, skinnier dimensions might fit more people's houses. I have very few rooms with big open squares of space so narrower rectangles are appealing. The tent we were using took up 3/4ths of the spare bedroom and I figured since we just left it up all the time anyway why not use the space to make a permanent glider enclosure. Since it fits nowhere else in the house we are now without a tent.

Ooh, I like that one. I already have the genji, but I might to buy that one one day, too.

Converting the height of the tent to inches though (cm to inches), it appears to be a great deal shorter than the genji, even with the largest selection. :/ Which is a shame.

Ours still have lost of fun climbing and jumping in a space no higher than our heads while sitting. Our big tent wasn't near tall enough to stand in so not a whole lot taller, if any, than the biggest sansbug tent and they still glided from the sides to our shoulders and occasionally jumped on to our heads.

Well I couldn't resist any longer. I just ordered the middle sized one. It could have a lot of uses besides gliders if it turns out the dimensions aren't the best for tent time. It's also still pushing it for fitting in our house but soon the weather will be so nice we can have tent time outside even after dark if we wanted to. I thought about an outdoor summer sugar glider enclosure but they wouldn't get much use out of it since I'd be far too nervous to leave them out there after dark alone with all the critters around here. I lose chickens monthly despite them being locked up tight and they are much bigger than a glider.

Even if it is shorter than the genji, the medium size one is still tall enough for you to sit comfortably. It's 3.28 ft high. dunno Looks good to me. Also, seems pretty neato!

Hmm.. that is true, Amanda.

I would likely get the large if I got one, just as it looks like it'd provide more room than the Genji... not that I need another tent now.

Tents came today. I ordered the middle sized green one but had trouble ordering and getting their credit card page to work. A day later the company emailed me asking what happened and today I have both a small blue tent and the middle sized green tent. Definitely not complaining.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/aqh88/Sugar%20Gliders/tent/SANY2126.jpg

I popped the small one open immediately and make sure you have measured the space out right before you pull that strap off cause these tents literally explode open. They are light and flexible enough they don't damage anything (or anyone) they hit but I was not ready for it and had to maneuver the tent around clearing space before I got it on the floor.

They don't sit perfectly flat indoors and have a loop for stakes at either end for outdoors. Not much of an issue. The gliders don't notice the slight incline and if you want the edges are easily weighed down. When I opened the bigger tent for tent time I put a piece of 1/2" shelf board on one end and slid the other under an empty box. A few glider toys inside would do it. I can sit up fine in the small tent even when not in the center but taller people might not fit as well.

Folding it up the first time took me a few minutes and a couple times through of watching their vid with both my husband and I going "huh?" (serious we both said it when we first saw the folding part in the vid). After I got it the first time I folded both the small and large tent up in less than 10 seconds. It's kind of fun popping the big tent open and folding it back up all in a matter of seconds when you realize what it's going to do and have a space ready.

On to the gliders reaction. Well first off there are no window loops or anything like in our standard tent so few places to hang things with our usual snaps and carabiners. There is a very thick, heavy duty seam around every single section of mesh that could easily have binder clips or maybe some type of glider safe pins attached to it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/aqh88/Sugar%20Gliders/tent/SANY2133.jpg

I plan to get some binder clips for hanging things and some small pvc to cover in fleece and pet screen to create little jungle gyms which will sit at the ends serving a dual purpose.

The mesh is quite fine but durable. I had out the younger gliders who still quite dislike being handled and haven't had their nails trimmed enough. They got stuck a few times but they get stuck in fleece and I know on another thread it was mentioned gliders will get stuck on a genji tent's mesh if they haven't had their nails trimmed. There are no marks on the mesh and they did accomplish climbing all over it just fine until the cat who didn't get locked out of the room decided to try to land on top of the tent from the nearby dog crates. She went splat on my head and slid down the side as the tent popped back open. The gliders decided to return to their pouch at that point.

Ah ha! This will work

Everything was a free for all after that and someone landed on my head once

There is no mesh at the very top of the tent but again there is a thick edge around everything so I'm planning to hang a fleece hammock up there. Then tie some fleece ropes coming down like I did in the other non mesh tent we were using before.

Overall with some creativity for hanging or building toys and some more frequent nail trimming it should work out perfect. It pops open to exactly fit the open space in the dining room and it folds down just as quickly to a flat disc that could go anywhere. I could shove them under the couch or slide them along the stands for the hamster tanks. They came in a 3" thick box with room to spare.

Here's a tent that one of my joey's parents bought from the UK. Mosinet He said it was pretty easy to order, and he absolutely LOVES it. The price was a bit high but it works perfectly for what he wants, to play with them on the bed. As hard as we tried we could not find a North American distributer but he said it was so worth the international ordering. They come untreated if you like so there is no mosquito stuff on them. thumb
