I started off feeding Duncan every 2 hours but if he got squirmy and his belly didn't show white (you should be able to see if she has milk or not) then I would go ahead and feed him earlier. Kinda like human babies, feed them when they are hungry (even if it throws the schedule out the window!) As for the pouch...I would take mom in to the vet for a check up. If you are wanting to reintroduce them, then you need to do supervised visits until you feel comfortable leaving them unsupervised. The more time apart, the less likely she will accept the joey back. Also watch them closely because the baby will try to nurse and mom could hurt her if she is not in the mood to be nursed on or if it causes her pain. If you do that, I would still continue to supliment feed. (thankfully Daddy is doing his job). Make sure Dad is stimulating her to go potty. You don't want her getting stopped up.

Leave baby with the father. He will care for the baby... cleaning and keeping the wee one warm. No need for the incubator.
Too bad you pulled the mother. She will be dried up by now.
What are you feeding the joey?

Update. Joey is currently with the mother. Dad didn't seem to want to wake up to take care of the babe, so I thought I would see if mom would. Dad and the joey (Divine) were in the bra, mom and other female in a sissy pouch. Mom started cleaning the joey right away. She is currently letting her nurse, the question is...is there anything to get. I had just feed her, so I will check her in a couple of hours to see if she is getting anything from mom.
Currently giving the joey puppy replacer, also have on hand vanilla ensure, wombaroo high protein, glideraide, and pedialyte.
Joey had only been away from mom for about 7 hours. Will leave them together in the sissy pouch under close supervision.
Figure I might need the incubator for tonite. I don't think I can trust mom to take care of her overnite, based on last nite. Maybe I'll just stay with them to see.
Thanks for the encouragement

Concerned about leaving the joey with mom tonite. What if everyone is out playing and the joey left alone in the nest with no one to help keep her warm.

[:"green"]Sorry I didn't see this last night... I was traveling to Michigan for the holiday. Anyway, how did it go through the night? Is Mom still taking care of the joey? I would definitely supplement feed the joey, at a minimum. If you haven't already, please read my web-page about Hand Raising A Joey. If the mom seems to be in pain when the joey nurses, then I would bring her in for a vet check to make sure she doesn't have an infection. If it turns out that she does have an infection, then the joey will need to be totally pulled & hand-raised so that: 1) the joey doesn't get infected; 2) the mother doesn't attack the joey due to pain. As Judie told you, feeding every 1-1/2 hours is perfectly fine. Take your cue from the joey and feed her when she's ready. Some joeys like to be fed every hour; others every 2 hours; others somewhere in between. Please keep us posted on her progress. I will be in Michigan for the weekend, so if you need me, the number to call is 616-786-3168.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have your info printed out. Mom quit being interested in joey around 8:00PM, left her alone in the nest and she was really cold. So we kept her in the incubator overnite. This morning put her in with mom, and mom practically ignored her. So I seperated them. Have an appointment this afternoon with vet for mom and joey. Divine (joey) doesn't really seem to want to eat but about every 3 hours. I have been offering at 2, but she just seems to want to cuddle and sleep. Prince (dad) is still willing to cuddle and clean her, so that helps. No agressive moves made by anyone towards joey. They are either in my bra of a sissy pouch, so they are well supervised.

Joey didn't make it. Feed her, put her in bra with dad, an hour later she was gone. This is 4 joeys in a month. Took the 3 adults in to be checked out. No pouch infections, parasites, or issues. So, that's good new, everyone else is healthy. KiKi is prego again...hope we don't have any repeats.

I'm so sorry *hugs* Of our first three joeys one died and one would have died without 24 hour vet care (the vet adopted her) and our third we had to hand raise. It all happened in a really short time and it was so emotionally hard! I really feel for you going thru this, it's so so so so rough.
