Ok, so I have been searching for a simple way to feed my babies while also having a good Ca:Ph ratio. I feed the blended diet as my staple. http://www.gliderkids.com/BLENDED-GLIDER-DIET.htmlI have has some issues with the fruits and veggies. I am new to all of this. I used Candy's diet calculator also found on the above website. I put in 7 servings of the blended diet and then picked 7 fruits and 7 veggies and put in one serving of each. This would be their diet for a whole week. I personally wanted to find fruits and veggies that I can find frozen so I don't have a lot of waste. I was originally going to do the fruit cocktail and veggie relish, but my gliders wouldn't eat it. So here's the plan now. I will give ONE fruit and ONE veggie serving per glider per night, along with their staple of the blended diet (version #1). The fruit and veggie will rotate each day for one week. Then I will start the rotation over. So in one week they will get 14 different fruits and veggies and each night will be different. I am hoping that the variety keeps them interested. And the fact that almost all of the fruits and veggies are frozen makes it easy and minimal waste. Here are the fruits and veggies that I am going to start with. These make a perfect 2:1 ratio when paired with the blended diet (version #1) over a one week period. Then if my gliders don't like something on the menu, I can use the diet calculator and just delete one and add another fruit or veggie and it will recalculate the ratio. Fruits: 1. Apples (without skin) 2. Blackberries (frozen) 3. Cherries (frozen) 4. Mango (frozen) 5. Papaya (I bought one, cut it up, layed on cookie sheet with wax paper on it to freeze, then put into freezer bag) 6. Pineapple (frozen) 7. Strawberries (frozen) Veggies: 1. Yellow squash (frozen) 2. Spinach, cut leaf (frozen) 3. Okra (Frozen) 4. Green beans (frozen) 5. Carrots (frozen) 6. Broccoli florets (frozen) 7. Asparagus (frozen) So as you can see, the only thing not frozen is the apples...and those last a long time, plus we eat them regularly so they won't go bad. Just wanted to post this in case there were other newbies out there that were looking for a diet plan that will be economical, simple, complete, and full of variety.

Yeah I fully expect that I wil have to change some of the menu items, but I am still excited to have a good jumping off point and a system. Do anyone's gliders like pineapple? I have already been feeding strawberries, but I have been feeding such a variety each night that it was hard to pay attention to what they ate and what they left. And I know that when I make changes that the ratio doesn't have to be perfectly 2:1...it was actually just by chance that it was 2:1...i was just aiming for the best I could. So 1.6 or 1.8, these would be ok too.

You are right on track Jamie. I do give my gliders pineapple but not every week. I have only one glider I know does not care for it so I put a little extra of their veggies on the plate for that cage on pineapple night so no one will be hungry.
It is so easy to feed my gliders as you have described. I can fix plates for 3 cages in about 5 minutes and not have to stress out each night wondering if they are getting what they need.

I, personally, don't like the idea of feeding a different fruit every single night. I feel like it could lead them to be more selective: "don't like this tonight, no big deal, we get something else the next!" that sort of thing.. When I do feed a different fruit and veggie every night, that seems to be what happens with my gliders. So, what I usually do is one fruit+veggie combo for three nights, then switch to another... They definitely get a lot of different fruits and veggies -- but they get the same ones three nights in a row before I switch to another. However -- if your 7 day plan works for you, wonderful!

I tried fresh pineapple just this week. Out of 28 gliders, only one was excited to see and eat it. Kanani thought it was the greatest thing since bras. The rest looked at me as if I was poisoning them! Even tho I feed pureed fruits and veggies, mixed in with their HPW, I give them fresh fruit and fresh veggies, a couple times a week. The pineapple wasn't a big hit. They adore bok choy and jicama tho! There's never any of those left over!

Lol, the best thing since bras huh? Well that glider was probably happy that the others didn't like it.
