I have a feeling I'm going to regret this, but I am at my wits end. Although the vet says things are better, I still feel like there are no changes in the way her fur looks. (I know it takes time). But I still feel like something still isn't right and I need help. I have been going for vet visits and she has been on meds for a while now. I just need peoples opinions... and I need help. Before I post pictures let me say this. Her wellness exam was perfect. All of you already know about the blood tests. She is very active at night. Although she feels thin to me the vet said she is right where she is supposed to be. There cage is the normal size, and they have many toys. She was on the HPW diet, but like what I said before in this post, the vet feels the liver problems may be due to the hpw diet so she was changed to the bml diet. She gets mealies and my other glider looks just fine. I am going to post pictures of Snuggles and her fur. I want to know what you think. If you think I should wait and see or if you think there is more. Be honest, not rude... Please someone give me their opinion.

I'm sorry that your little one is still having problems. Based on what I've read, it sounds like your vet is doing all the necessary testing. Slightly elevated liver enzymes is an indication of possible problems. However, they can vary, depending on what has been processed prior to the testing. Usually, to get a clear value, it's better to have a comparison, with a follow up within 6 months.
I agree, her fur doesn't look normal. There can be several causes, as you already know.
There could be a chance that she's developing an allergic reaction to something. Food, air, laundry detergent are a few major. What type of items do you have in her cage? Plants, eucalyptus, branches, even certain plastics.
What do you use to clean their cage with? What other types of cleaners do you use? Do you burn candles, or incense?
Did your vet check her for skin mites, or dry skin?
I'm just tossing out other ideas as to what else to look for.
I hope that you will be able to pin point what's causing her problem.
My thought and prayers are with you and your little girl.

The toys that she has in her cage are all plastic or fleece, nothing is sprayed in the room and there are no candles or incense, I have always used lysol's anti-bacterial kitchen cleaner and have rinsed and dried the cage off. The vet did check her skin and said that it was not dry and their were no signs of mites. This is what is upseting to me. Everything seems to be fine but there is still a problem. I have changed things and still nothing. I really am in tears now. I feel like I'm doing something wrong and this is what is causing all of this. It's just hard when I can't figure out what is going on. Thank you for the help and thoughts and prayers. That really means a lot.

i dont know if this will help but my gliders were on the suncoast diet and their fur wasnt what it should be. i started giving them regular ensure-vanilla(no chocolate) with 1 tsp.+ a tiny bit more of human calcium citrate to 1 container of the ensure and their fruits, vegs, chicken/rice pellets, and protein. i have seen a dramatic change in my gliders fur-all 4 of them now have fluffy fur that feels softer than anything i have ever felt. actually the ensure diet is the same as suncoast diet but you dont use the calcium or vitamins that suncoast calls for. regards, nancy in detroit p.s. i hope your glider gets better. maybe you could use natural vinegar/water to clean the cages i/o lysol antibacterial as their could be residue on the bars that is irrating them.

How does the ensure diet work? Like do I use it with the bml diet or is it seperate? How do I make it, and do I eventually go back to the bml diet? What do I give her with the diet? Any extra vitamins? Fruits and veggies? I ask because I never heard of this diet. She has been on the BML for I believe a month and a half. :/ Thank you Aimee. I just want all of this to be fixed. I just can't figure out the problem. Here is something I have wondered about. My critters where on the hpw diet and they ate it fine, however it doesn't seem like they are too found of the BML diet. They eat it but there is still some in the morning. What do I do? I am worried about changing their diet again, ya know?

The ensure diet is Darcy's Diet It was given to Lord Darcy when he was ill. Although some feed it to their gliders on a regular basis, it is designed to help ill gliders. The ensure is also good at helping to put weight on gliders.

Brittany, I am so sorry, I know you have been going through this for a while now. If you need someone to talk to please feel free to call me. 262-909-8910 I do know after a diet change it can take quite a while before you start to see a difference in the fur. It took my boy monkey a long time to grow his fur back on his tail. Jen

Ok Teresa, you are totally confusing me on this Darcy diet thing... In the other thread I stated... Cora, were you around when Saranfox(sp) (Donna) used to post? She is the one who helped the vets create the Ensure diet, called the Darcy diet after a glider that had cancer... And you said: Darcy's diet and the Ensure diet are two different things. What Donna was feeding to Lord Darcy is way more than what the ensure diet is. Yet here you say: The ensure diet is Darcy's Diet So which one is it? IS it the same (I believe it is)or is it not? LOL...

Peggy, it is but it isn't. You know very well that there is a difference in the Ensure diet and the true Darcy diet. She fed many things to Lord Darcy that is NOT on the link to Darcy's diet. And that is why "I" say they are different. Most of those that feed the ensure diet feed the ensure with calcium and fruits and vegies. They are not feeding the other things like the pinky mice and such. So there IS a difference. My comment of the Endure diet is Darcy's diet was a statement that IF someone is looking for the Ensure diet, it is listed under the diet links as Darcy's diet. But regardless...Darcy's diet and the Ensure diet are definately different than Suncoast's diet.
