Okay, so I got some awesome new toys a couple weeks ago. Now it's time to clean the cage, and I am not sure how exactly to clean the toys with fleece AND plastic... is it safe for the washing machine? Will it clean properly in the dishwasher?

Or how exactly should I clean these toys?

So far, the things I have I put in the washing machine on either the delicate or hand wash cycle, with a little faster spin cycle. I don't think that the fleece would clean as well in the dishwasher since it doesn't get the movement it would in the washing machine, and I think it might get too hot for the plastics and either break them or lessen their life span. I ran a couple things through the clothes washer once....

Baby chains don't have any problems, but the plastic party bracelets did. I had a plastic chain toy, with rexlace, beads, liberty bell, and fleece. Some of the beads came off but I had more rexlace, so no biggie. No damage to the bells though.

Now I run things through the dishwasher, it's so much easier.

Just my experience, your mileage may vary.

Most of my interactive things and The ting tang toys will do better washed by hand or in the dish washer and hung to dry. That's how I wash most all of mine. I put some of my nest pouches and rasta pouches in my washer but they are a front loader. So usually I reccomend to wash in the dishwasher or by hand.

We have brand new washer/dryer so they don't have the agitator and the delicate and hand wash cycles are super, super gentle. Maybe that's why mine have fared well. I didn't realize the dishwasher would work so well - I'll have to try it!

Okay, thanks! I was just worried about the thin plastic... I will set it on the top shelf of the dishwasher... gonna go get them clean now.

off_topic Lina just walked out of her pouch... and stopped to look around for a few minutes... she couldn't figure out where everything went! (I usually don't leave them in once I take things out)

i have a LOT of fleece and chain toys. I either put them in the jacuzzi if i have a lot at one time and turn the jets on ( after i have run bleach through the jets to clean them of course) LOL!!! i am weird like that but it gets the job done with dishwashing detergent or.... i run them through the dishwasher. I know our washing machine even on delicate cyclle would cause harm wink

If you do use the dishwasher, you might want to turn the heat/dry cycle off. Then the temp shouldn't be too bad. Ann & glider herd

LOL!!! i know i'm a little odd but i can fit soooo many toys in there at one time and just turn the jets on full speed. roflmao and the way to wash a jacuzzi is either with bleach or dishwashing detergent nayways so it works out well. If i only have a few i use the dishwasher but yeah LOL!!!! grin

roflmao roflmao roflmao ok yes prolly glideritis! but it is an awesome idea!!! LOL!! i mean the jets swirl them like a washer would only no center thingy to mess the toys up. Dont make me you tube this! roflmao roflmao roflmao i think the glider items use my jacuzzi more than me. tounge its fast, safe, and save son water in the long run than running the dishwasher on deep clean days a gazillion times as so many toys only fit grin

Ya know......I'm not sure about all of you & your dishwashers, but I just DON'T like the idea of putting glider toys in there. Even on its BEST days, my dishwasher has a "residue" of that caustic detergent in there......and I'm just not sure that a glider should be exposed to that.

Call me paranoid, but I'd rather hand-wash some of their toys in Dawn. Then hang them on the shower rod to drip dry. My opinion...

I have a front load washing machine and I place all my glider toys (plastic, fleece, whatever I have) into a 1, 2, 3 large lingere bag with zipper closure, depending on however many toys I have to wash and toss it in with my regular wash and hang everything oustide to dry.

Now if it's winter I'll hang the toys in the house to dry while the clothes are in the dryer. I don't unassemble anything but may have to straighten & reassemble very very little. The bra lingere bag works as well especially with plastic toys.

Just thought I'd also share. I washed a load of clothes today with a lingere bag of toys, lil blankies, and new fleece that I bought yesterday and remembered I wanted to share my experience with everyone.
