My gliders aren't very inquisitive (yet?). Anyway, I bought some 5 oz. bowls for their food. The bowls seem too big or actually, to high for them to realize that there's food in them. If I put it out on a plate, then they'll eat it up. Problem is, I don't have any, other than my daughter's tea set plates!!

What does everyone else use? Will the gliders get used to the high bowls? Should I use plates? Where can I get super shallow bowls?

Thanks a bunch!!

I go to one of our takeout places, Taco Mayo, and they have small bowls to put salsa etc. into. These are small and nice, also you can use the lids, try a restaurant supply for these little bowls, they are black with clear lids. I personally pick up a few extra when we eat anywhere that has these and reuse them. Hope this helps some.

I know that Target has a good selection of shallow little bowls. I also use the "soy sauce" bowls that you would use for dipping sushi. They're very shallow.

probably gonna think I'm weird- but I use Tupperware hamburger keeper containers. They are shallow, have a lip (my gliders love to sit on it while eating) and it's large enough to feed several gliders at once. I don't have any issues with them chewing the plastic.

They are also great when making up their diet- I fill a few of them, top them with the seal & store in the fridge- the rest go in the freezer. Usually can always find a bunch of ebay pretty cheap

Crate and Barrel has soy sauce bowls for $0.99...they're great. I also got small, heavy ceramic bowls from Petco in the small animal section

I use saucers because mine too, tend to not like to eat out of feeder dishes. I do use sm. dipping bowls for thier Darcy's. The plastic at my house always ends up at the bottom of the cage tipped over. Fiesty little boogers when they eat! LOL

If I don't feel like washing their bowls, I just use paper plates.

[:"green"]I buy small 2 oz. "Ramekins" at World Market. They are a small ceramic bowl. Then I buy 2 oz. disposable cups from Gordon Food Service that fit perfectly right into the Ramekins. Keeps the cups sturdy, but makes clean-up easier!

A little off topic but;
Sugerglidersuz - Have you ever tryed freezing there staple in those cups? I am thinking servcing size. But, don't know if the cups would freeze well or not. They may split when frozen. What do you think?

I too use ramekins, but I put them INSIDE big plastic tupperware bowls- set upside down... the gliders have no problems at all.. and its hysterical sometimes to see 3 butts sticking up over the top of the plastic while they are all scrounging for what they want in the food bowls..

THESE are what I use. The small round ones are great for one or two gliders...the large round ones for 3-4 and the square ones for large colonies.

They are heavy enough not to tip over, they are microwave safe and dishwasher safe. Deep enough to hold all their food (even mealies don't crawl out) yet shallow enough for the gliders to easily eat out of.
