It is with a heavy heart I have to say Chip has met his furry family at the rainbow bridge. After 2 surgeries and over 3 months of medications 2x’s a day, it was time to give Chip quality of life vs quantity. The short version of his story: He was able to spend his last day with his family, and he was spoiled with treats and kisses. I will miss the way he greets me from the pouch, the way he protects his brothers, He loved his brothers to the end. I will miss the crawls up my leg, and the way he sniffs my face, and of course the swats at my eyelashes, and he always put his brothers to bed. Chip and I have had a long journey until now. I pray to see you again my Chip, you brought me so many smiles and laughs; you and your brothers keep me up longer than I should stay up, or wake me in the middle of the night. I wouldn’t have it any other way- it’s all because you are my family. Until we meet again Chip.
Forever in my heart.

Thank you all for your support- it means so much. I have to add ...
I had to make a hard decision

Chip had a been dealing with a prolapsed cloaca for months and an impacted anal gland. He was under close observation after the first and second surgery, and he self mutilated enough to cause his skin to go necrotic as well as his penis on the second surgery, even under close watch by the vet and technicians.

The 3rd surgery would be to clear the necrotic tissue and remove his penis, leaving his surgical area significantly exposed. He would go through many weeks of bandage changings using a silver salve and injections to help heal the skin.

Please understand, I did the best I could. I do reflect on how I would have done things differently. I feel like I caused him more pain than what he should have gone through. 😭

But I made the best decisions I could.

No glider should be bound to bandages and meds for so long. Chip wouldn’t tolerate the the bandages.

I want people to hear his story so we can all learn. He was a rescue as well as his brothers. I know their story, not pretty.

The doctor is doing a partial necropsy to see what was going on inside Chip. I hope to learn more.

Looking forward to his memorial💔💙🌈 😫😭

Thank you all for being there.

Thank you- I will. Part of the hardest part is feeling their pouch lighter than normal when carrying them or feeling their pouch. Time heals, that’s what I keep telling myself.

Jen, as I offer you my deepest condolences, I find my eyes welling with tears. You and Chip have been through a remarkably hard journey, one that I believe Chip would have wanted. The chance, you not only gave him another chance, but two other chances. I believe he appreciated those chances, and as well appreciated your decision to let go. For I firmly believe you did right by him,m he knows that, and he wants you to know that. I also believe you will one day be reunited, and he will thank you for the wonderful life you gave him, the two chances to continue a life where he finally had the love and care he deserved, and your understanding of the time to let go. Find peace.

Oh my gosh, this is so true, it still hits me every time I pull their pouch with them inside. I also find it hard when preparing their servings of food, especially at first, cutting back on the amounts really sets the cold hard fact of their absence. As does nail trim day. So many reminders, but time does heal, though they'll always be missed, you do cry a little less over time.

Oh my gosh- that was the realization I had today - so very difficult *tears* every little thing hurts these days. I have to do a nail trim this weekend . It’s bitter sweet to share memories of our little ones . Love

The hardest part is that the doctor did a partial necropsy and it was inconclusive.
I am beating myself up about this whole thing.

Thank you! I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
