Hi everyone, I don't have babies yet but am planning, researching, and gathering supplies ahead of time. I am an avid crafter/builder so I plan to make most of my own cage supplies, including the cage. I am aware of the materials to avoid for the actual cage. My question is about the accessories.
I see many pictures online of cage set-ups. Some are minimal, some are a hot mess, some are bright and colorful, some have materials that seem to match the human home decor. My question is, can suggies see color? Do they seem to enjoy the bright things? Or do they prefer earth tones like the forest would have? Besides anti-pill fleece, what other materials do y'all use to keep multiple textures?
I know they need a lot of toys for enrichment and foraging. I know to stay away from rope, yarn, fabric that can fray. Do they like toys that make noise? Like cat balls with bells and baby toys that crinkle? Do y'all put safe branches in there for climbing and jumping on? What sort of creative things do you use?

My question is, can suggies see color? I don't know if the see color. I think cage decor is done for the human. Some people have themes and everything has to match. Others just put stuff in. I know they need a lot of toys for enrichment and foraging. I know to stay away from rope, yarn, fabric that can fray. Do they like toys that make noise? Yes, they like toys that make noise. We had a Fischer Price toy that made noise if the pounced on a certain spot. After they spent the whole night pouncing on it, I took out the batteries. Little hooligans. Like cat balls with bells and baby toys that crinkle? Do y'all put safe branches in there for climbing and jumping on? What sort of creative things do you use? We have their wheels, sometimes multiple wheels in the cage, a foraging toy and their sleeping pouch. Some cages have plastic bracelets, they carry them back to the pouch with their tails. The next day you take them out of the pouch and they spend the night reloading the pouch.

You can make many things rather cheaply, if not almost free.

Many toddler toys can be converted to be safe for gliders. Zip ties are a start.

Tenax in 1/2" is great for making tunnels, cubes and toy boxes.

Barrel of monkeys to hang around the cage as well as ping pong balls, fleece pompoms, plastic army men or dinosaurs too.

Cleaned tictac boxes are excellent for foraging along with a 97ยข daily pill dispenser, a toothbrush cover, or a cleaned breath savers puck.

I recently turned a plastic coffee can into a hanging hideout. It's not pretty, but very functional for gliders. It can be stuffed with fleece strips or blankies and used as a bed for them as well.

I make matching cage sets for my gliders, but rarely keep a full matching set in there all the time.

I think they can see some color, and my girls liked camophlage type " Real Tree" or "Mossy Oak" type fleece.

Thanks for the replies. I can't wait to get started on fixing their cage up. Lots of great ideas!
