I have one female who is having her second joey, she is a wonderful mother and gets lots of help from her mate. Each time she gets pregnant and has a baby in the pouch, she loses a little hair over each eye. It looks like her eyebrows have been waxed, lol. At first I thought is was over grooming, but with lots of observation, talking with another experienced breeder and reading up, I learned this happens with some females. This last time, her hair had grown in and sure enough, one day her hair was missing again, I checked and she has another baby on the way. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dance.gif" alt="" /> I was wondering how many other people have had this happen to their females? I dont think she will let me get a picture but I will have someone help me later and maybe I can get one so you will see what I am talking about.

That's interesting as I have never had that happen. However,it would make sense because some humans lose some hair when pregnant. Their hair gets real thin if not bald in some areas.

You know... I have a female that just had joeys a bit ago that had some hair missing from above her eyebrows too.... I wonder if anyone else has had this experience.

what u have described sounds like the kind of hair los that is stress related from over grooming,she is probably a worriesome mommy....
is it just her and a mate or is there more gliders or things going on that could add to her stress at this time?
it wouldnt be anything such as a hormone causing the hairloss. because its localized i would not say its mites,or vitiamin defieceincies either.
I beleive this is over grooming

I posted about this happening with one of my females a while back and I was told that it was overgrooming and that she shouldn't have any more babies :|

It sounds like the same thing you are describing. This girl has been pregnant 2 times and both times she lost hair in exactly the same pattern above her eyes and in a little patch on her head. That's how I knew for sure she was pregnant!

Other than the hair loss she is perfectly fine, her babies are fine, and she doesnt seem to worry over them much at all.

This is vey interesting. I don't believe her hair loss is stress related and I don't believe it is overgrooming. She and her mate are both meek gliders and very laid back even with joeys in the pouch or not, they are very friendly and tame and are handled daily. Might be interesting to have a poll on this sometime.
