I found some toys today for cats. They are balls with velcro feathers on them. The feathers are 100% natural undyed. Is this ok for a glider to play with?

she bites/chews everything she plays with.. i just wanna make sure it doesn't matter if she eats part of a feather.

Thanks
Ashley

While the feathers are safe, please make sure the rest of the toy has NO catnip as catnip can be fatal to gliders.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I used a feather toy for the first time tonight. It was Hilarious to see all of them attack the feathers! However, I'm curious . . . Do they realize this is play time, or does this make them scared of us? The reason I ask, is after I put the feather toy away and tried to pet Hubie, he started crabbing like he hasn't done in a LONG time! Is that because he wanted to play more, or because the big feathery thing scared him, and I happened to be attached to the big feathery thing?

I play the feather game with my kids all the time and I assure you, none of my gliders are afraid of me in the least! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

The most important part of feathers is making sure you have natural, undyed feathers AND watch to see what kind of playing your gliders does with them. Some gliders will just toss them around, BUT some gliders (namely mine) will try to eat them - I worry about letting them ingest any part of the feather.

I thought that for a bit with my female joey, but I think she's just crabby in general as my other gliders do not do that. Mine love to play with them, and do try to stick them in their mouths, but none of them eat them... You can find undyed feathers at Wal-Mart in the craft section for pretty cheap.

Have fun!

I'm not big on the feathers because my two want to eat it not play with it. They let go eventually but it worries me that they'll ingest the feathers. I'm deathly afraid to leave any toys in their cage except their wheel and a rope. I just bought some toys from www.sugaraesattic.com like the moon module, the three ring thingies, and the space bird. I also got them the little stick thingies. I will probably put the moon module in there and the three rings and possible the stick things but I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the space bird in there because I don't want to imagine the feathers all over the place in the morning after they eat them.
