I want to get one as a travel cage so that in case we have to evacuate due to a hurricane (God forbid) my babies have a nice big place to live. Anyways. I'm wondering about the whole drop-through thing at the bottom. I don't want them tromping around in their pee and poop. Has anyone come up with a way to build a little level at the bottom that creates a drop-pan type situation? I've been trying to think of the best way to come up with something like that.

I'm actually working on something like that for my cages. More or less, it's just a simple piece of PVC coated wire mesh cut to sit on top of the bars of the rept... I also have a water bottle set up that I'm working on. God, I need more time and money, lol.

Perhaps you could lay a sheet of fleece on the bottom of the reptarium and replace it daily. The fleece can be washed and reused. The fleece could be tucked under the poles of the reptarium, so it doesn't move around as much. However, the gliders like to jump, romp, having fun, etc. and the fleece may not stay at all four corners of the reptarium, so it is likely that there would be some exposures on the bottom of the reptarium. Just a thought.

PixTrix is right, that's what I have done with my reps, then all you have to do is shake and wash.

[:"green"]Slightly off topic, but along the same vein...
Can someone post a picture of their reptarium? They sound like a great idea for travel cages, but I'm having a hard time visualizing the whole set-up for gliders...

Suz, I wish you could have seen Queenduck's reps she had for her raffle for the SGGA interpreter... now THOSE were DESIGNER QUALITY reptarium setups... if you could just see that you'd want one of those big ones as a forever cage. Heck, I wanted to live in there!! Wish I could find that post, but we are getting ready to go to the hospital...

Maybe if you messaged her, she could send you the images?

Well if you really want a quick clean up Reptarium makes "soft trays" for these cages. Basically a clear vinyl "box" that sits in the bottom of the cage. I don't have one, but I might get it. I just use some fleece down there. Shake it out and replace it with a fresh one daily. When the suggies are awake, they spend very little time on the floor of their cage. When they are asleep they are wrapped up in their blanky on top of the floor fleece.

[:"green"]GlidersFoSho, thank you for the picture of your reptarium. It's beautiful! I love the way you got a wheel secured in there for them. Now, last stupid question: How does the door get secured closed?
Thank you!

Suz, I believe reptariums have a zipper closure.

They have a zipper that goes from the top all the way around to the bottom. I love them, and I use fleece on the bottoms, and change it daily. I have attached a picture of one of mine too. The best thing is they are very light weight and easy to clean.
