Ziggy's owner never had a water bottle in there with him before. She had little dishes she'd put in, but he ends up pooping in them. @.@ I bought him a little hamster water bottle, but he doesn't seem to want anything to do with it. I tried putting honey on the spout, and he took it, but stopped when the honey was gone.
Is there any other way I can get him to start using the bottle? ;\

I buy those water bottles for birds with a little resevoir at the bottom, they can lap it up, but it's too small for pooping! Plus, it's very easy to tell how much they are drinking. They are about 2 dollars a piece.

I would just put the water bottle in the cage with a small dish of water below it until he gets the hang of using it.
Most gliders don't drink a lot of water every night so it's not like he should be using the water bottle any more than the dish. Once you see him actually drinking from the bottle I think it would be safe to remove the dish. Then he'll learn to use that for water when he wants it.
You could also trying offering a little watered-down Gatorade or juice to encourage him to get used to the bottle. Or you could offer him the bottle with the juice in it so you see with your own eyes that he knows how to drink from it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

The bird resevoir water thing sounds awesome. I'm gonna try Kristins idea for a week or two. If not sucessful, I'll get the bird water-er. Thanks everyone! ^-^

USMom, Have had a problem with regular bottles leaking and end up with water all over the bottom of the cage. I have been putting fresh water in a bowl each day and have also ended up with poop in the water - yuk! After reading your post, I went to PetCo and looked for the water bottle you mentioned. The only thing I found that looked similar to what you described were small vials (not a good description), maybe 4" or so tall, not too big around, with a very small tray at the bottom and wasn't sure that was big enough for a glider. How big are the ones you are using and what company makes them? I ended up buying a regular bird food/water dish that has a hood. I haven't used it yet, but it should keep the poop out of the water.
