I don't think it is. I think it has something to do with the dust from it.
I'm sure someone else will come along and have more info for you!

NO cat litter is not good.

But here's something thats better.
http://www.sugar-glider-store.com/carefresh-bedding--3-pack-of-10-li.html

Or cutting a piece of fleece to the size of the tray and shaking it out daily and washing or switching out 2X's a week.

If you use fleece make a few of them. That way you won't be doing laundry all the time and you will have something to put in there when you need to clean them. I would make about 4-5 or even one for every day of the week. Then change them every day and wash them like once or twice a week. Deffinitly shake them out before you wash them!

thanks for all the tip and the link. The person who i may be purchasing suggies from seems like he put cat litter in the bottom of the cage. If i were to get them im going to take it out immediately, and probli go with the fleece or that bedding.

I use paper towel on the bottom tray under the grate. It's easy to clean every 2-3 days and allows me to observe that all is well in the elimination department, if ya know what I mean! i just wipe out the tray with chlorox non bleach wipes & replace the paper towel! So simple!

Yesterdays News is a good bedding too. I used that a while back.
I like the fleece because then you aren't constantly buying bags of bedding. But that's just me. There are a lot of really good types of bedding choices out there. It's mainly just a personal choice.

I bought a roll of paper - similar to paper grocery bags at Lowe's in the paint department. It is supposed to be used to protect floors etc from painting drips. It works GREAT and I just fold it up and throw it away and put in a fresh sheet.

I use newspaper in the bottom of the cages. All of my cages have lined bottoms so the gliders can't get to it. If your cage isn't lined in the bottom I don't reccomend it. They'll shred it and make a mess.. You just pick it up and trash it, and wipe out the pan on the bottom.

I also have a cage with a lined bottom, and I use really cheap puppy pads to line it. They work great! I change it a couple times a week and there's almost no smell. (I say the really cheap ones, because they are less likely to have any type of scent to them, and the lining is a lot thinner. They probably wouldn't be great for dog, but there's no way a glider can make the kind of mess a puppy would!) But only if you have a lined bottom, you wouldn't want them to chew and/or eat them!

Cat Litter is on the unsafe list.

It can and more than likely will be ingested.

It also has been known to cause respiratory problems in many gliders.

Best bet is to go with the advice given already, or even leave the pan bare, and wipe with a baby wipe each day.

I buy the puppy pads from Ebay. They are "irregulars" so they might not be exactly square. They are CHEAP. I bought a box of 200 for $30(including shipping). Can be changed everyday and I don't have to wash them. They sometimes will pull the pad up through the grate but, for some reason they don't tare it up. My guess is they are trying to get a piece of dropped food.

The pads can't be much more expensive than fleece. After you figure buying fleece and then having the cost of washing it.

I used fleece to start with. I tried just washing them twice a week. I put them in the laundry room until washing day. They smelled sooooo bad. Then I made a big mistake. I put the used ones in a giant ziploc bag so that the laundry room would not smell. The smell when I opened the bag the next night was 10 times worse.

I used the carefresh and my my little fuzzbutts would pull it up and fill their pouches with it. It made the pouches gross. Not very cheap either.

They also pulled up the newspaper and shredded it everywhere. Doesn't do any good if it is all over the floor. LOL

Puppy pads are the greatest thing I have used.

We line our tray with newspaper & our gliders don't bother it too much. We always have free newspaper & we never read it, so I figured we might as well use it for something...haha. I wouldn't do newspaper if you don't have a shelf over the tray though. Besides the mess the gliders would create, I think I read somewhere that the ink isn't good for them.
