my gliders love love love to play with string, so I tied some string up for them to play with...but as I was watching one baby got it somehow knoted around his tail and he was stuck!

good thing I saw it
not easy to hold a glider still and cut a string off the tail

just thought I'd share that...no more dangling strings for us

Stings are very dangerous for our little ones. Please be very careful and also keep close watch on their pouches and toys. Any loos strings can kill your babies.

This happeed recently with a Wunder Chain in our cage. I took a few bites to my finger to get the chain off. My advice; if you are going to give them dangly toys, make sure BOTH ends are anchored, so they cannot get tangled easily (the chain got tangled because she was trying to take it back to the pouch with her tail)

[:"green"]pouches also need to be checked regularly (i.e., every time they are put into the cage) to make sure there are no loose/broken threads). Strings caught around gliders' tails or feet/toes can be life threatening. A glider, when caught, will chew off their appendage in an attempt to escape. You are very lucky you were there to help your glider out. Thank you for posting about this very important subject because sometimes I think it doesn't get circulated often enough...
