I was wondering if it was ok to feed center cut pork chops or turkey breasts. I feed Pricilla's diet, and my gliders seem to be getting tired of the chicken batch (I also feed a scrambled egg batch and a plain batch served with mealies and yogurt - on different nights of course). I think turkey would be ok, but what about pork?

Yes, it should be. Make sure to read the lable and don't feed anything with garlic or onion powder. Also look out for added sodium and avoid that too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Pork and turkey should both be okay as far as the sodium content, as long as you stay away from the processed varieties (e.g., ham, bacon, sausages, lunch meats). If you buy a fresh turkey to roast, you'll want to avoid the kinds that have been injected with "goodies" to make them juicy. Those are packed with extra sodium (among other things).

I was wondering with things like ground meats, I have a dehydrator for making jerky. If I did that plain do you think it would be ok for gliders to eat, or could the texture be a little too rough for them?

I would think that would be a good idea like for treats or something but the answer to that question i'd like to see........

It's all the additives and preservatives that you want to avoid. Plain ground meat should be okay. Here's a link to the USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. You can plug in different foods and look up the nutritional content (e.g., the difference between ground beef or turkey or chicken). Pay particular attention to the Phosphorus content.
