Hello! I am new to the forum however I've done plenty of research regarding sugar gliders and can't seem to find a definite answer anywhere regarding the legality of these little creatures. Our family is very interested in adopting but we want to follow the rules so we don't have our new member taken away. I currently live in PA, do we need a permit to own a sugar glider as a pet? I read the comments on related topics but none seem to have been updated since 2014....any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

According to SugarGlider.com's Gliderpedia PA still requires a wildlife permit to posses ANY "wildlife". I don't know how things are going recently but I have heard that there is a bill floating around to make them legal.

Thank you! I am so confused on this topic because I see alot of people who own these creatures in pa but from what I understand it's extremely hard to get the permit and from what I've read they haven't issued one in years! I will be heartbroken if I can't adopt

I did some poking around and it got tabled last year but is back on the table with a new number this year and so far it has passed unanimously.

I encourage you to write to your senators and ask them to please pass the bill, as it is written sugar gliders will be legal to own as pets.

I did contact one of the sponsors of the bill, and I will post about it if he gets back to me.
