That's great! The only question I have is when you say you adjust the lighting. I'm guessing you dim it to the point of where you can still see but it's not too bothering for the gliders. Actually that's not the case. I need good lighting to see what I'm doing when trimming their nails. Also, I don't want them to perky, so I use my desk lamps and also make sure some natural light comes in as well if possible. Though Ollie will get ansy My girls will stay in wherever they decide to sleep if they think it's too bright and as soon as I dim the lights enough for them they are out in a flash. Mine get more active when it's darker as well. I keep low or colored lighting for out of cage play time so I can see where they are, but not disrupt their play I honestly thought all this time I've been spending with them at night was bonding us (and I'm sure it is to a small degree) but I didn't realize how much I was missing out on the daytime bonding, I tried a few times but quit when the crabbing wouldn't stop. Now I know I gave up too soon. It's never too late to start pouch time (day time bonding), so don't feel you have given up. Anytime spent helps them grow more accustom to you, therefore building trust as they learn you will not hurt them and bring good things. Pouch time has it's benefits, possible even to work up a "cuddle time" with them, depending on you and also your glider's personalities. The out of cage play enhances that relationship, especially when they start diving to you and know you're their "safe place". This all comes in time, for some gliders it's quicker or deeper, their capacity varies. I'm also guessing that either your girls are well bonded to you so you are not worried that they will"take off" or you are in a goode proof area. We had developed a pretty good relationship, not as deep as I like, but one that is acceptable so to say. I had some drops due to drastic life-changes that stalled our out of cage time for long periods, so many complications and I'm afraid it hadn't gotten back to it's peak as of yet, but I'm hoping it increases. I did have the girls for a longer period and had begun bonding procedures when I started the method. But I guess having it set up that way, with the little piglets loving their freeze dried worms, lol, I got kind of lucky. As with Ollie, he came much later and kinda was tossed into the routine. The first big move came soon after so I've been just doing his like the girls as much as I can, than switch to pouch method to finish. I keep hoping he'll get with the program. I have been trying to read a few articles a night before I go to bed and every little bit helps but the best information so far has come from here, so thanks again a million times.! Reading helps, read threads pertaining to the areas you feel are more helpful as you go along, those areas may change. As for me, I never had joeys, I never bred or plan on breeding, so I read very little on those things or related. We love having fellow glider slaves join our community and enjoy sharing stories and information, as well as pics. Please feel free to jump in, the water is warm here, lol.
