Miss Gizmo has 2 healthy, albeit small, little boy joeys 5 days oop. Miss Shophie, Gizmo's little 6.5 mo OOP Girl has beem mothering them as much as Miss Gizmo; to our amazement both little joeys had their heads in "Miss Sophie's (Big sister's) pouch this morning.

Is there any way Sophie could have milk? The joeys seemed to be nursing with both heads shoved in her pouch. What a sight! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" /> Miss Gizmo is nursing them and continues to be a great mom...we are just perplexed with what's going on w/Sophie when Gizmo is out playing and eating. Cheetos, the daddy doesn't mind because it gets him out of babysitting.

When I first introduced Daisy to Starling she jammed her head strait into Starling's pouch. Daisy was, I think 8-9 weeks OOP at the time and Starling was a little over 6 months OOP. Starling didn't seem to mind and they are the best of friends now... It's it cute what the babies do?

Hmm I thought the milk producation was due to the horomones of being pregnant... i wouldn't think the little girl would have any.

Oh, I forget to finish the rest of my thought. I think it's a comfort thing... Joeys find comfort in suckling.

Yeah the milk is produced from hormones during pregnancy, but I have read that in humans if a woman has had a baby before and then dried her milk glands up. If she had the baby continuously suck on there she may start producing milk again. I wonder if that could happen in gliders? Interesting topic. I don't think she is nursing on her though as she shouldn't have any milk.
