I woke up to something I dreaded this morning. Mom was running in the wheel, and dad was in the pouch with a joey, and the other joey was in the other pouch. I Immediately took him and put him in the pouch with dad and the other joey. He was kinda cold, but he was crabbing and making noise, so he was ok. I'm definitely watching for signs of rejection now, but I'm so scared because I have no idea what to do if they do reject him. They're all in the pouch together right now. I was planning on going back to sleep for a couple hours, but now I'm going to be staying up and making sure they don't move him somewhere else or move to the other pouch and leave him where he is. I have no idea what to do if they do reject him. I've read the "How to hand feed a joey" thing and I should have held him up to a light to see if he'd been fed, but for some stupid reason I didn't and I don't want to go drag him away from mom and dad and encourage them to be without him. I'll be absolutely devastated if this little guy doesn't make it. Anyone have any advice for a very nervous glider grandma? Now I'm going to go find the post where someone posted the link to a rejected joey nursery. God forbid I need it, but just in case.

OK this is serious. They all just moved to the other pouch and left this little guy alone. I'm about to get showered and go to Walmart and get the stuff to make a nursery. I don't have a French Cather size #5. What can I use in place of that?

I'm not sure how tiny a #5 catheter is, but maybe you could pick up a little medicine dropper thing and a small baster thing and one of those thing that people clean babies' noses out with. Somebody who knows will be through soon and can tell you if you can use them and which one, but then you'd have them...........

Hi, I am sorry you may be having problems with your glider family. Can you tell me if there have been any other signs of rejection? I am working on a rejected joey survay and this is one of the questions. I am sending you my number and will also tell you that MaryH is very experieced in rejection and will be more than willing to help you. I use a TB syringe or a fine point eyedropper to feed the rejected ones here. Please keep us updated. Angie

OK thanks for the tries y'all, but it's too late. I think he was too dehydrated and too hungry and too cold for too long. He didn't make it. I noticed yesterday that Bonnie only had one joey nursing at any given time, but since they're so small, I couldn't tell if it was the same one every time. I know now that it was. Putting 2 and 2 together now, I don't think he'd been fed properly since they came OOP yesterday morning. He died just a few minutes ago. Thanks again.

Thanks everyone. In a way, if it had to happen, I'm glad it happened the way it did. He died with me holding him trying to save him instead of alone in the other pouch and cold. Also, there is a bit of blood on his snout, so I think they got a little aggressive toward him. I think if I had left him in there, Bonnie and Angus probably would have done worse than nip his nose. At least this way he died peacefully and warm rather than alone and cold. I hadn't even come up with a name for the poor little guy yet.

I had a rejected joey that died this morning. I need help NOW in case the second one is rejected as well.
I have Wombaroo. If the joey is rejected, can I mix some and feed him this or do I need to make up something special? I can make up a batch of regular (all I have is Judie's) BML if I need to. Please I need help. I'm scared to death that this other baby isn't being fed. I already lost one baby today. I don't want to lose him as well.

I think it may be too late. I was mixing up some Wombaroo because it was all I had time for and I think he's about to die. He's not moving at all. I have him in my bra and a heating pad over my shirt to try and warm him up. I can't handle this. I don't know what to do. I'm just trying to warm him right now.

OK this one needs to be moved to Real Stories as well. He's gone. I tried warming him up and I tried getting him to feed, but he just didn't make it. I can't believe this.

I'm sorry, too. Were these their first? If so they will probably do just fine next time, but that's not much consolation now.

Yes this was their first set of joeys. And on top of that, they are very young for having babies. They are only 8 months old. However, there will not be more babies. Angus is neutered now. I've come to terms with it. It's still tough, but I understand why it happened and that there was more than likely nothing I could have done. Thanks for all the kind words.
