I know there has been some confusion about how and where to post necropsy results, and I would like to take the opportunity to explain the process here.

Ultimately all necropsy results will be posted in the Necropsy sub-forum, but it is a moderated forum (meaning new posts are not allowed) to ensure that necropsy results do not get lost in off topic posting.

We are asking that all members posting necropsy results start a new thread, with the results, in the Health & Hygiene forum. Once you have posted the new thread, please contact a moderator online (or click 'Notify' after entering your post) to let us know they have been posted so we can lock the thread.

If there are questions you have about the results of the necropsy, we will leave the thread open so the community has a chance to respond. When regular housekeeping is done in the forum, the post will be locked (if it is not already) and moved to the Necropsy sub-forum. Any posts that are not directly related to the necropsy results, or questions therein, will be removed so it is easier for people to read through them.

I'm sorry I hope I put this in the right place. I wanted everyone to know that it is best to write down everything you want done in a necropsy if you ever Lord forbid lose a glider. When you have been dealing with a sick glider for a while and haven't slept much you will not be able to think straight and if that is not a factor you will be so upset when it happens that you will not think of everything you need to have done. I know I was so upset that I should have had more done, but it all happened so fast and I just was so upset I couldn't think straight. I knew enough to have the necropsy done (with a reminder), but I did not remember to ask the vet to do certain things I wish I had asked to have done. It is best to have a health journal with their normal weight and if they have been sick keep a weight journal. Then any other health information you can possibly think of. List what all tests you want done and then the vet will know if they pertain to your glider or not upon doing the necropsy. Had I had enough guts to go in while the necropsy was done I might have thought to ask for the things to be done due to what they found and I might not have. It's so hard during that time that you will thank God you have that list when you go in.

This will also help the glider community get all the information they can to help other gliders. Now if you need to address cost with the vet remember to do that as well. They know what they charge for each test (unless things have to be sent out) so you both can decide if it is imperative or not and if you can afford it or not. Let's face it money is a worry with a lot of us and everyone can only do what they can.
